no...i agree...i think they have it all planned out. it's just that the arc of the story is so long, i bet we won't find out what the monster is or what the island is until MAYBE next season, and maybe not until the end of the series.

Yup, I agree.

Well, they will probably reveal a huge secret at the mid-mark and the end of each season. At least at the end of each season, as there are like 3 short ones.

how many seasons to go?

"In May 2007, it was announced that Lost would continue for its fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons, concluding with the 117th produced episode in May 2010. These three final seasons were planned to consist of 16 episodes each, running weekly in the spring uninterrupted by repeats, though the recent WGA strike has called this exact episode count into question."

to hell with this show. It's like finding the perfect woman, who turns into a cocktease 2 months later. Every week I watch for an hour, and 50 min into it I realize nothing has happened, and I have even more questions .
I'm gonna watch it on my own terms in 2010, on DVD, in a marathon session. I watched the first two seasons like that and it was awesome.
- haha.. my first 2 were like that as well, but I can't stop right nowrafalski

I'm sure it'd be great to watch it like that. I don't want to wait though.

I know, It will take amazing willpower, and I'll prob cave eventualy.
I wonder if there is a support group out there for people trying to do this?
- epigraph0
Cause thats the way we do it here in America....Nobody can control their impulses without professional help.
actually a support group would be too much work...I want the pill.

Holy hell Desmond, go find the physicist!
- mg330
This was the most revealing episode of any season. Opens a new door, but I have to say this is the first time they ever handed us this much in one episode.

I haven't watched one episode of Lost, Heroes, 24, or any of those other shows. Even though I know I'm not, I still don't feel superior.

A very engaging and well written episode.

mg33..... what exactly did they reveal? we didnt learn a single damned thing that EXPLAINS any questions from before.
all it did was open up more questions.
for instance: desmond CAN alter the future, because Faraday's notebook was changed. but thats the ONLY thing that desmond changed?? the penny of the future was still the same one who watched him embark on her dad's race? wtf.
- You can't change the future. Faraday said that and it's true. When he looked back in his notebook, he looked like he remembered. Des didn't change anything, it was always there.misterhow

Leap day indeed! How appropriate based on last night's events.
Did you catch the family name associated with the journal that Penny's dad won at auction? I believe they said Hanso. This name was mentioned as the founder of Dharma. Perhaps that old ship found its way to the island way back when and Mr. Whitmore wants to protect the secrets contained within.

The show, with all its lame annoyances is really outstanding and with every episode end it has me wanting more. If you ask me, the key to success is that it explores a very old myth. Probably ancient links can be drawn as well, but I'd say It takes from Verne's "The Mysterious Island", Ken Fowles' "The Magus" which all take from Shakespeare's "The Tempest".
It's all there - Prospero, his daughter Miranda, airy ghosts, shipwrecked crew..
Who's Trinculo, the jester? Sawyer or Hurley?
Duncan's a ship name from "The Mysterious Island", one that comes to save the Scottish seaman Ayrton.
Homer's Penelope is just too easy to point out.
