i think it'll get very interesting. now that locke is dead and alive at the same time! (my guess is that somehow "the unnamed man" comes back in the form of locke to kill jacob, as he promises...)
also the whole relationship thing with jack and claire and finally christian shepard...
miles of course
daniel faraday...did anyone see this yet?

ukit, most of the fans came up with those theories early on, so it could still be something like that. But since so many people believe that it's purgatory, I think it should be something else. Something more unexpected. Anything that involves a dream would be a cop-out.
They can stick with the time-travel thing. They're doing a decent job of making it believable (for the genre it's in). I remember so many people stopped watching the show as soon as that came into play. Like the show was that realistic to begin with (it was for maybe the first episode and that's it).
I think it was good for the first season, and then went through a rough patch. The last two seasons have been quite good, and I'm glad it's ending.

*spoiler alert*
Well I think Michele Rodriguez is going to come back as Jacob's girlfriend from the past and it will be revealed she is Ben Linus forgotten daughter. It makes so much sense without explaining too much. The mystery will still be there and the fans will love it.

So what was that??? I seriously think the writers just toss a bunch of plotlines onto the table and try and work them all in. Not sure what to think yet.

The "flash sideways" was inevitable in a couple of ways. First, the whole "If you went back in time and killed your grandmother" argument. Second is they had already flashed back and forward, so they had simply run out of directions to flash. Diagonally would be too complicated, even for Lost (watch, i say this now and by the end of the show it'll happen).

Speaking of underwater, what the hell was with that sequence. Was it me or did it look completely terrible? Like one of those DVD extras where they show you a deleted scene that never got completely finished

I still think it's the eternal struggle between the forces of 'Good' and 'Evil' - the two dudes sitting on the beach (one dressed in white, who was Jacob at the time, and the other one was dressed in black - who I think is in Locke's form now).
Everyone else on the island are pawns, or instruments, in that eternal struggle. Since they (Good and Evil) can take on any form, (smoke monster, polar bear, ... or any dead 'vessel' - i.e. Locke, Christian, etc.) and they can't directly kill or eliminate the other one, they have to find "loopholes" and formulate scenarios where they meet their demise through other means.
My 2 cents.
I've thought this for a while now, and so far it seems to still hold water.- I felt like the "rules" and loopholes also came up in conversations between Ben and Whitmore.Brand0
- Agreed. But I think it's more Good vs. Bad and that Evil is just how Bad is manifested through humanity. Nietzsche and all that.duckofrubber
- Well this would explain a lot of the show. But last night's 'parallel lives' for SOME characters has confused me.'ghandolf

so the evil is Locke, and Jacob is now Sayid - ok, we're back to square one (locke won't be able to kill sayid and vice versa). nothing has really changed, except now we know about the smoke monster. ugh, i was hoping for more.... but glad it's back..and concluding.
- i'm not so certain that Sayid is Jacob. Certainly could be, makes sense. But that wasn't the impression i gotlocustsloth
- smoke monster is kinda ghey now. used to think it was cool.fugged
- I didn't get that impression either until reading a blog this morning, but see my post below.mg33
- I dont think that jakob is now sayid. when miles wanted to speak with him, sayid doesnt said sth. so he wasnt dead. my theory!OnkelVictor

My theory goes with some I read on the EW Lost blog this morning:
I think that Jacob died, but needed to reincarnate within Sayid. At that temple, the people there say they're fortifying and taking defensive positions to "keep him out" - him being Jacob / smoke monster, correct? Correct me if I'm wrong because that stuff was confusing.
Anyhow, if Jacob is inside Sayid, when Sayid wakes up he says "where am I?" that could either be A) Sayid really being confused, or B)Jacob being inside him and confused because he'd never gotten inside the temple.
Thoughts?
- no, the living locke is the smoke monster/bad guy. I believe that jacob is in cahoots with the temple people.404
- hence when they find out that Jacob died they know that locke/smoke monster is coming to kill them.404
- that is also why richard started freaking out when he saw the flare detonate, because he knew that meant shits about to go down.404
- go down.404
- sweet, I get it now, I think...mg33

hmm - I haven't read any opinions on the blogs yet...
i thought they were fortifying the temple to keep Locke (smoke) out. Since Jacob and Whatshisnuts could enter recently deceased vessels (bodies), i just assumed Jacob would enter Sayid. If the bad guy was smart, he'd kill Richard, enter his body, convince the new Jacob he was Richard and kill everyone.
I could be totally off base though.
