I've never seen this show. But judging from all the constant confusion surrounding it since it's debut, I'm gonna say that the name of the series was deliberately created for the foreseen affect it has had on its audience. And THAT is the point of the entire show. To fuck with people.
- The point of the entire show is to sell ads and dvds, genius.raf

- True to an extent. I think that its more of a faith metaphor: patience + dedication = payoff.blackfrancis

I gave up on the show after season 2. I just put it down to the producers making it up as they go along. And now with the time travel bullshit, it looks like I was right.

Is there a second "LOST" thread? Looking back, I know there were some funny comments from QBNers that don't seem to be captured here...
What happened to the rest of the comments?
- Horp0
Ha, a Lost thread. Season 5 has only just come out on DVD in the UK and we have waited for that. Came out last week and we have burned through the entire series except for the final episode which we are watching tomorrow night.
I personally haven't enjoyed S5 as much as the other four. Its a bit of a shambles and although they are tying things up now and clearly heading towards an end strategy, its all a bit gratuitous and there for the sake of being there somehow.
I still love it, but I hope they make Season 6 a killer way to wrap up the show.
Kate is damn fine looking in season 5 though. Worth watching just for her.
- Kate is a terribly annoying character now, but yes, good looking. Also, never thought you'd watch it!juhls
- I think they are trying to end it, but it's for the best. Better than going on for way too long. I liked the last two seasons.juhls
- you know you can watch season 6 on hulu... or on the ABC site... did not end the seriesSigDesign
- Only Americans can unless you use a proxy. Which often sucks for streaming video.ETM
- this is bullshit!SigDesign
- Annoying? in those tight teeshirts and jeans? Surely you jest.
= DOrbit - She's great for a couple of seasons...getting better now as the show ends. There were some issues in the middle ;)juhls

I think I posted this before, but this poster series was nuts.
http://damoncarltonandapolarbear…They had clues each week, and then an in-person release giveaway, and an online poster release. If you were one of the first to get a poster, you won scripts and signed things. The posters sold out within seconds.
These people know how to promote their show.
- There's actually a rivalry between poster collectors and "Lost" fans now. Scheming at events, etc.juhls

Goddamit. If you're going to do the cliche last supper thing, at least do it right. You can't just interchange characters. Placement is everything.
Jack makes sense in Thomas' postition, as the 'doubting thomas.' But wtf is up with Sawyer. No one stands there in the painting. It fucks up the composition and takes away from the symbolism. Who's supposed to be Judas or Peter? Sayid? The Asian psychic guy?
I mean jesus (pun!) people, a little awareness of basic art history and post modern symbolism would be nice.- they're probably doing it on purpose to confuse you .. not to give away too muchJordy
- Did BSG get it right? I didn't even notice.juhls
- Noted, but why even do this approach then. The whole point is to convey a clue visually.harlequino
- Not sure if BSG was right on the money, but it had more resonance, imo.harlequino

The show has no respect for its viewers. It's like a child that's allowed to ramble on and never make a point.

From EZTV:
--------------------------------...*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*
"Can you decipher it? Lost fans promised a 'shocking finale' as the cast take part in an encrypted recreation of The Last Supper"
It's one of TV's most mysterious, yet addictive shows and the finale promises to be a major television event.
So, what better way to promote the end of U.S. series Lost than with a encrypted recreation of Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper?
There are two pictures which feature all of the show's characters in a replica of the famous painting and signal the final curtain for a show that has left audiences around the globe glued to their screens in awe and confusion.
What does it mean? The picture, released by ABC, is thought to contain clues about the conclusion of one of television's most mysterious and popular serials
Spot the difference: In the second picture the characters are looking away from Locke - who is seated in the same position as Jesus in Da Vinci's original painting
Now, with the finale drawing close, fans have been analysing the new photos to see if there are any clues as to what may occur in the last series.
Some of the key points fans have picked up on since the photo was released include:
? In the first photo everyone is looking at Locke, who is clearly in the Jesus position. Could this be proof that his prophet-like role among the survivors and mystical understanding of the island will continue?
? There are skulls at both Sayid’s and Hurley’s feet. Is death knocking at their door? Or are they just stones or coconuts, meant as a red herring?
? It looks like wrinkles are visible on Richard’s face. Could he finally be aging? If so, what does this say about the magical, powers of the island?
Viewers will have to wait until the final series launches in the U.S. on February 2 to find out exactly what happens, but can expect a dramatic conclusion to the show.
ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson announced that Lost will end with a "highly anticipated and shocking finale."
'We felt that this was the only way to give Lost a proper creative conclusion,' he said.--------------------------------...

The final season will be awful. I will watch, but it will be a letdown.
My main reason for thinking this way is simple: There is no chance for a "big reveal" anymore, not to the degree we hoped for early on in the series. Whatever climax the show reaches, it will probably be 2/3 of the way through so that they can wind it down. Long ago they could have kept the story going in a direction to easily end with a mind-blowing final episode, but I really don't think they can anymore. I've actually forgotten how many directions the show is currently going in, but none of them are as interesting as others I thought would play a bigger part long ago.
For example, after the first few seasons I thought we'd see more of a path along WHY "bad guys" were trying to find the island. We've learned plenty about the island, but not enough about why it would be kept secret, how it could affect the rest of the world, and why it's hidden (note: I realize we now know that the island moves).
I just hope we find out where those damn kids went that were on the smaller island. It has bugged the living crap out of me for 2+ seasons for them to have just left out those details.

Oh, and another thing is that they've really taken the mystery out of the show by presenting so many questions last season. The mystery of the first couple seasons is what really grabbed me: the smoke monster, the Others, the button pushing, etc.
I realize they have to resolve things, but they are resolving too much. I'm really trying to ask myself what captivates me about the show now and I can't think of an answer. The whole good vs. bad, Jacob vs. the other guy storyline is really dumb, IMO.
- they have to resolve everything now, since next will be the last season.SoulFly
- ukit0
I sort of agree, they bit off more than they could chew as the series wore on.
During the first couple seasons you could sort of hope for some twist at the end that tied it together neatly. Now it seems like the explanation for it all will be some sort of convoluted patchwork of explanations about time travel, Locke being Jesus, etc.
I'll still watch though.
- ukit0
i.e., I was hoping for some more "shocking" resolution like,
-they are all dead and the island is purgatory or
-they are all patients in a mental institution and the island is some kind of a shared dream/ delusionSomething like that would put all the mystical mumbo jumbo in perspective and make it make sense! But nope, seems like it will just be that it is a magical island that shifts through space and time *yawn
