Speaking of underwater, what the hell was with that sequence. Was it me or did it look completely terrible? Like one of those DVD extras where they show you a deleted scene that never got completely finished

    • yeah - that has pretty horrible.fugged
    • Awful. They should have cut that. So now we know the island gets under water ... so it ends. Thx.dibec
    • It was TERRIBLE.mg33

The real Jeremy Bentham's body is preserved and on show at University College London. I've seen it. Apparently, during college meetings his body used to be wheeled in and noted in the minutes as "present but not voting".

Interesting parallel with John Locke don't you think?

  • mg330

I just got caught up tonight, whew, three episodes.

Not sure what to think, but, well, this show still completely rules.

^ one of my favourite characters. Sucks to be Alex. Seriously, I wonder if Ben had anything to do with it. I like to think that he cares about his daughter, but he would do anything to protect the island and doesn't care much for Rousseau or Karl.

i seriously wish i could put myself in a cryogenic chamber until the DVD's for all the remaining seasons come out so i could just sit and watch the rest of it unfold until it's conclusion. i'm so looking forward to the 3 hrs of season finale coming up. Not so much to the waiting until the following February when it starts up again

Good god I want to slap those two. Jack and Kate are both whiny bitches who deserve each other. I found it rather hilarious that a year or two later, FINALLY off the island, they are STILL having the same fucking argument:
Jack asks her a question, i.e. where were you/what are you doing? Kate says "I need you to trust me." Jack persists, acting like a douche. Turns out Kate was off doing something and lying and Jack was right. But she cries and makes it look like it's Jacks fault. Argghh!! It's like watching reenactments of former relationships.

And I guess our Rousseau question is answered. This episode sorta pissed me off.

    • and Jack continues to get drunk and go back to her. WTFJaline

This week was definately a transition episode. Kinda like when you're plotting a move in chess that's three or four turns ahead. But it was still fairly good, i thought. There was a whole "Doh, they're gonna find you out" tension reminiscent of bad sitcoms that i didn't appreciate. Wasn' my favorite episode by far.
SPOILERS BELOW IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN "Namaste"

i loved how they made you think for a minute that Juliet set Kate up (i was kinda hopin'). Also the whole Sawyer/Jack scene was awesome. Like a change of command ceremony almost.
i feel ashamed to admit that this was the first time that i realized that the plane didn't go back in time with them. i'm not sure why i didn't put that together before, but oh well. i friggin hate Caesar (i imagine i'm supposed to). i hope a flaming arrow is in that dude's future. And what we saw this week was obviously before Locke stepped out of the water (someone must find the freshly concussed Ben and bring him to the barracks).
i didn't really like the Christian scene. It was too...i wanna say Stephen King-ish. But i did find this pic while trolling around a couple Lost sites:

Is this Claire still hanging out with Jack's (and her own) dad? i highly doubt it's some crew member or a jumble of clothes on a chair so i'd guess that it is her. But i'm not sure she's even going to be in this season.
And the Ben as a kid thing was wild. You almost got a sense that he knew something, like that he knew Sayid. But, as another site said, it may be that he's already met Richard and is in the "Wait and be patient" period. Still, that kid did an awesome Ben impression.

And finally WTF HAPPENED TO FARADAY!?!?!

Going to different points in time in the past was kinda cool but skipping way ahead into the future, then skipping back a little for another flashforward, before the other flashforward we saw is just stupid.

  • colin_s0

this show has started to lose me recently. i dug the beginning of this season, but the past couple episodes have been pretty bad.

Ok, I 'm totally going with the theory that Jacob is a very old/dead/or trapped in time Jack. Here's why:

-The recurring them of closeups on an eye. (I could be wrong, but) It only happens with two people - Jack and Jacob.

-In the eye close-ups, both Jacob's and Jack's eyes are brown. (Ben and Locke's eyes are not, btw)

-Right now, it seems Jack is the one taking the initiative with getting the bomb to save everyone. It puts him once again in a big leadership postion.

-The show started with Jack, and has (for the most part) felt largely like Jack's story. It would be fitting to end the story with him as the central figure.

-Episodically, Jacob was first mentioned by name in "I Do". According to 'other' Danny Pickett, Jack "wasn't even on Jacob's list".

-The two other entities we've seen in Jacob's domain or prescence are Christian (Jack's father) and Claire (Jack's half sister, and daughter to Christian). If one were a time-trapped lonely entity who could call on minions for help, wouldn't one call on their family?

-And darn it, would it be perfect for Jack's self-sacrificing character if he had to take the BIG BULLET for the whole island population and live out a very long lonely existence to make sure pieces fall in place for a final salvation of everyone else?

-"Jack Shepard." Wouldn't this truly make him a shepard to all?

    • Good theories and reasoninglocustsloth
    • haha, I haven't paid that much attention to who Jacob is, to be honest. Good theory.juhls
    • For some reason that character does not interest me, but I'm sure that will change after the finale...juhls
    • After reading this I am more intrigued. Nice last few points (especially).juhls

I was just about to say the same, colin_s. I was doodling whilst watching it, barely noticed it go by and hardly registered the end at all.

    myeh.

    • yeah, it was definately a setup or filler episode. Not the best, bt probably ultimately necessarylocustsloth

    Other thoughts:
    • Charlotte was born on the island! i thought Miles was great in the scene where he asked her why she was leaving, but how did he know (what dead person told him)?
    • Find out what the backwards phonecall to Kate said here:
    http://losteastereggs.blogspot.c…
    • Did Sun accidentally and/or unknowingly give Locke up when she told Widmore that the 6 were not the only ones to make it off the island
    • Is Sun just using Widmore to find the island or is she prepared to be in league with him? And who is the other person she blames for Jin's death? Kate? Jack? Locke? Ben? Widmore?

    • Yes, i am a bit obsessedlocustsloth
    • yes i like this.doesnotexist
    • Hmm...I think Sun hates Ben and Jack (from what Jack said at the end), but there are others she could hate.Jaline
    • I bet all of her hatred has to do with Jin's death. Which makes sense. I'm still wondering about Charlotte.Jaline
    • But we'll probably hear more of that next season. Also, Juliet looked really good in the last episode.Jaline
    • Also, your response is fine :)
      Mine was longer anyway.

i knew it i knew it i knew it i knew it i KNEW he was alive. The positioning of everything when he was supposed to have died. HA! i was finally right on something. What a cliffhanger this week, eh? Guess we'll get to find out what Danielle's story was afterall

  • Fariska0

only thing to say about the last episode: FFS!
4 season down the pipe for such badly thought and worse written bullshit? FFS!

  • fugged0

think they'll bring back charlie? i kinda liked that smack shootin' hobbit.

  • locustsloth0

i missed it last night due to technical and logistical snafu's, but i caught a couple glimpses of it. Looked REALLY good. Gonna watch the whole thing tonight.

    An addition to harle's theory:
The island (or Jacob) is using Christian to speak to people. He told Locke to tell "his son" he said hi. It was at the point that Locke told Jack this tidbit that Jack turned around from being skeptical to being open about it and eventually being the driving force to get everyone back on the island.
So it would stand to reason that future Jack (Jacob) would know that it would be the one thing that would get past Jack to agree to go back
Further, it would stand to reason that the whole reason ANY of this is happening is because future Jack (Jacob) is trying to find someone to help him get free (the ring of ash and whatnot).

Or maybe Jacob's just the dog

    • If he were the dog, it's be a really great 'Son of Sam' shout out, haha.harlequino
  • rafalski0

I'm so not reading this thread. Until tomorrow.

  • GreedoLives0

they broke format with the flash forwards, they were all going back in time closer towards them getting off the island, this is the first one that was going the other way, further into the future. other than that, the only interesting bit was the confirmation that jack and claire really are half brother/sister, the rest was a big fucking waste of time...

    • I keep forgetting Aaron is Jack's nephew. That made his tirade at Kate even funnier. Oooooh, the irony.harlequino
