Today is the last day anyone, anywhere in Chicago, can smoke cigarettes at a bar, restaurant, music venue, anywhere.
Good riddance to cigarettes! Good riddance to intolerable bars without proper ventilation! Good riddance to second-hand smoke! Good riddance to my clothes smelling like shit the next morning!
The only thing that could make me happier would be for this horrible, painful sinusitis and ear pain to go away - I can't smell or taste anything and I'm all hopped up on antibiotics and pills but I'm going out anyways!

Why does the Gov. get to tell PRIVATE OWNERS of bars/restaurants etc if they can allow people to smoke or not?
Buying smokes is legal as hell and TAXED UP THE ASS... yet the GOV feels a need to be our 'Nannies' and make sure no one is exposed to second hand smoke at their Bar/Restaurant of choice?

When I go to cities that allow smoking in bars, it really does suck. Besides, most bars just open a deck or something outside for the smokers

I stopped going to smoke-filled places a long time ago... I truly believe if the owner wants to allow it... they should be able to.
Are you telling me that sending people out on to the curb is good for everyone walking by?

Any time I go to a smoke free city I'm always baffled why my clothes don't smell like smoke when I wake up the next morning after getting smashed. I don't really like cigarette smoke, but in my opinion, what's the difference if I'm out destroying my body with liquor, hell, might as well have a smoke too.
The one time I truly despise cig smoke is when I'm at a restaurant and that shit drift over me when I'm eating. Fuck that, I wanna make that fucker eat the cigarette

There is a lot more that goes on when they ban smoking in bars besides your precious clothes not smelling like cigs.Blue collar and factory bars shut down because their clientele isn't about to go outside to smoke, they will just stay home where they can do what they like, revenue to the bar drops off and business' that have been in operation for 30 years shutdown.
This happens in every city that implements these bans.
All so you can go home and not wash your queer diesel jeans 2 days in a row, you selfish fucks.

Why couldn't we ban non-smokers? Pubs are for smoking and drinking, and if you dont like that, dont fucking go in one. I dont like cars, other peoples children, angry mobs... I can avoid all of them if I please. I dont stand in the middle of the fucking road dodging cars whining about the fact I might die if I get hit - I dont stand in the middle of the fucking road! The upper-middle classes running this government dont have a clue about the simple pleasures in life because they've got fucking fast cars, bubbly, fad diets, and all manner luxury to distract them from them hellish reality of existence. Note to Pony: Alcohol is a beverage, as in 'food'. In that same context, chocolate cake can be 'abused'. Cigarettes are used as they are intended to be used.
So quit picking on alcohol!
*P.S. I could give a damn about smoking bans, etc. Doesn't bother me in the least either way.

They're privately owned... we're now being asked to go outside the privately owned bar... to smoke on the public sidewalk.
This is very... very... backward and goofy.
