maybe this is a stupid question...but i never really had to dress "business" casual before...except on job interviews. is a polo shirt and slacks acceptable? do i need more? i only have to dress "up" for the first three weeks (orientation), then from i understand its jeans a t-shirt from then on...
what do you consider business casual?

polo and slacks seem fine. I just wear jeans and anice button down and think that's pretty business casual... stylish business casual.
- interesting...yea... hard to time because this company is laid...but not at the same time.studderine
- whoa? major typo..i meant the company is laid back but not at the same time.studderine

Add a strap-on for a little flair and color. But a nice one.

business casual is about as casual as shopping at a brooks brothers. i.e. not casual at all.
but fuck it. i'll rock a black shirt, white tie, with a puma vest thrown over it and pinstripe pants. that's the only way to do 'bus-cas'
- dig it!jfletcher
- you'd fit in just fine wearing that after orientation. *looks down at clothes* yup... just fine. :)k0na_an0k

:)
slacks and a polo will be fine (i think). although a short sleeve polo might be a bit cold. chicago is... blistery that time of year. i wore a pair of grey slacks and a black button down dress shirt. fit right in, although one of the business sales guys wore a suit the whole time. after orientation it depends on what department you'll be in. im=jeans, untucked (but nice) shirts, sweaters, graphic long sleeve t shirts, spiked hair. :) the rest of the place is really in khakis, brown shoes, tucked in gap button down. not that there is anything wrong with that. for future reference though, always remember... it's better to be overdressed than under dressed, cause you'll never get a second chance at a first impression. good luck dude.- you should double as a career counselor.studderine
- i have a nice snowboarder type jacket...i can wear that into the place right? man im so nervous.studderine
- hells yeah. that jacket will be fine. a bunch of the people in the office are snowboarders,k0na_an0k
- which is weird cause there is no where to snowboard here.k0na_an0k

I wear ties and suits almost every single day I am the office, and it is supposedly business casual.
Currently I'm just in shorts however.

Business casual is khakis, or nicer, and a dress shirt, not a sports shirt. No tie or jacket required. And ffs no athletic shoes!

haven't signed in over a week and you reeled me back in dude. if jk would have DONE WHAT I ASKED HIM TO DO! :)

It would really do you very well, no matter what the 'official' line is to be the smartest guy in the office, as for good or bad, it carries an immediate air of superiority and gravitas. You will come across as more intelligent, more together, sexier and more on the ball to your immediate peers, and seniors alike.
You'll do better work, faster, and be noticed more for it.
Nothing flashy, just a well cut, clean suit, matching tie, and the most expensive shirt you can afford.
I don't know how post-post modern it is, but fuck all of that, a sharp suit is worth every penny.
- AndyRoss0
Superiority and gravitas is the ticket!!
- also a 3rd rate drum and bass dj pair from the midlands, I'll warrant.mikotondria2
