since marriage is on the PV today, i'll keep on topic...
we're tying the knot next october. i'm putting together some save-the-date cards now.
feedback anyone??? the ocean photo part will be a magnet that people can stick on their fridge...

Neat idea. I like

Nice concept...but I'm not a big fan of the different typefaces you have going on...
- ukit0
Cool pic, typeface is kinda over the top. But its your freakin marriage announcement, you should be able to use whatever typeface you want.

im getting married in july its a good idea and loks great.
- madirish0
honestly, i really do not like it at all.
- it seems very easy and deliberate
- the idea of having a magnet stuck to a card feels cheap
- having a photo of yourselves on a magnet again, feels cheap
- the typefaces going (as jevad said already) feel weak and disconnected
- why not make this a 1-color job w/ screens? or 2 color.- can't touch this crit. honesty like madirish serves here is invaluable. sorry but all true.horton

- The point I forgot is that, remember the purpose, the date is the most important part of the whole thing...MrVandemar

dont get married
- iwlyfel0
but if you must..
do something like what you have going there..
dont do boring, old, traditional crap..
i had a sweet package going for my save the dates, invitations, rsvps, etc.. and my soon to be mother in law went ahead and bought some crap template invitations..
its your wedding, do whatever the hell you want..

Ok, first things first. Its our wedding, you can do what you want because its your big day. Going a traditional or cheap ass template route need not be the way to go and by all means you can do something that
a: is different and
b: reflects both your and your fiance's personalityHowever, this can be done in an elegant and tasteful way. I think that the first draft is too rough, the type clashes with each other, the hirearchy of information is off and it just feels a little gimmicky to me.
My friend is getting married and he sent out magnets, mine is up top of the extractor fan in my kitchen. It is small, illegible and tacky, but its up there should he ever visit. Is it going to remind me of the date of his wedding? No, so why add an extra cost to what is already going to be a pricey event?
Take the money you would have spent on that and put it towards a better paper stock for the invites, or put it towards the bar (if you're having one), another bottle of champagne for the toast etc etc.
Oh and congratulations on the marriage, don't take my comments too harshly.

Ian said it all dude. Keep it simple, keep it classy and by all means, put more money towards booze, better paper and get it done faster so that you mother or your soon to be mother-in-law can get their claws into any of your wedding planning. Which, the claws part, can cause the whole thing to be such a pain in the arse.

couple questions/comments...
Did he just start kissing you or were your heads above water and then you went under for the kiss and met there? Is he from the ocean?
How did you meet exactly? there are so many fish in the sea he could have met but chose you etc... definitely emphasize the date more than other stuff i would have to agree with the other post

The fonts aren't the greatest, but it's decent. The picture/theme is clever.
- rtr0
also it kinda makes me feel like I might have to sit through a presentation in order to be fed but I'm feelin the symbolism and touristic quality

process cmyk printing is going to look very informal... but maybe you're ok with that. i'd much rather spend the money on offset spot colors.
- emokid0
i like magnets
- leftwave0
hey everyone, thanks for the critique... the whole range of it!
the consensus seems to be that the font choice needs some help. can you offer up any advice????
rtr: we actually met surfing but not exactly under water. this photo was taken on a surf trip that we went on last summer and yes we sort of planned to dunk under and kiss :)

Holy crap! you're marrying a siren???

Hey leftwave, i just got that pricing on the 2/2 offset printing for you (on a 12x18 sheet). It came out to just under $400 for the printing. If you found some decent paper, it could end up being pretty inexpensive. I know I'll be doing an invite using 2/2 offset for my next client.
- what quantity was this pricing for?? from whom?? thanks!leftwave
