okay, i know half of you guys are ready to kill me for the runaround about my account, but now i have another question for you...
yes I KNOW this seems like a stupid question, but i can't figure this out on my own...
how do i do a search on the "filter" page for posts from a certain user? jaline posted this link, but how would i get to this page without using the link?

or click on the username

Hey, man. Nice shot.

newstoday.com used to have a way to do a user keyword search. no more, huh?

Look, you code HTML, right, leftwave? If Filter's not doing it for you, just take two seconds and analyse the structure of that link you posted..
www.qbn.com/ filter/ leftwave/ public_voice/ recent/ ever/
( http://www.qbn.com/filter/leftwa…)See what it's doing? you've got readable components right there - first off, the filter, then the username, content type, order sort and time range. swap any of these around for different results (what the filter does).
Want to do a keyword search there? add a search string at the end (again, as it does in the filter)
www.qbn.com/ filter/ leftwave/ public_voice/ recent/ ever/ crit/
(http://www.qbn.com/filter/leftw... )As I said in the first post - when you use the Filter, you have to enter the keyword first, then faff with the settings (hopefully something that'll be resolved in the alpha version of the site).

detritus: yes, that was the first thing i did. but in looking at the URL, i still can't figure out how to get the username in that 4th row on the filter page

I'm hopelessly confused as to what your confusion is
- detritus0
Ok, perhaps there should be a more obvious button for that, say next to the username in their profile page.
However, at the bottom of the profile page, there is a link which achieves this..
"Showing last 3 – Click here to view all leftwave’s broadcasts"

i would love to hate fuck this chick.

ok, i give up.
guys, what i'm trying to do is not that hard, but after reading this thread it makes no sense. detritus's post, 2 up from this one, and 7 up from this one. the links are 404. and the link that does work only shows threads that leftwave STARTED. is it possible to filter(search for) threads that i've participated in, but not started?
also, i dog-eared some threads. where's the button to find those?

I am totally confused as to what's going on here
- cherub0
i can't find my dog-eared threads.
i can't search for threads that i've posted in, but not posted as the "thread starter". like this one, for example. i can find a link to a page that shows threads i started, but not threads that i've participated in. i've never started any threads.
also, the filter either seems to be weak(it misses theads), or some threads have been deleted because i'm trying to find a thread that should be there but the filter isn't finding it.

I get the feeling the filter is very much still work in progress. Maybe you should raise these points with the QBN geeks. I'm sure there's a secret code word you can use in your posts to get there attention...
- emukid0
when did you start that thread, cherub? looking at your profile, it seems like you haven't created any threads using this account
- cherub0
i haven't.
the threads i was looking for were talking about video cameras, and lenses for that new canon camera that's not out yet. i didn't start any threads. i just want to search my "participated" threads. is that possible? i dog eared them thinking that would let me go back later so i wouldn't have to do this but i can't find how to search the dog eared pages either.

Ok, perhaps we all (..I..) misunderstood the original question.
No, it's not possible to just search for the posts you've added generally. This makes sense when you consider the underlying database structure and the fact that some people here have 30,000+ posts.
I'd recommend that in future you start bookmarking threads, or work on memory-association techniques.
