90% of people (wild guess) listen to their music in mp3 format, which is completely compromised, and not only that, mostly desktop speakers or tiny tiny horrible Ipod headphones.
I am in this category. But lately I find it disturbing. YEAH. Disturbing.
Even 20 years ago we were using better formats and far better speakers /equipment for the most part.
We keep downgrading?

What is this you speak of? Did you read it in the NY Post?

I reckon that once the world has moved to mp3's etc, they will bring out a brand new format which will make it impossible for people to convert to from their existing music library. And it'll go back to square one. As they wont even be able to put them onto file sharing sites. Mark my words!

i don't listen to loud music anymore
with all the headphones, stereos, ipods etc. i plan on buying stock in hearing aides as i believe they will be a hot item in 15 years as this new generation of iUsers go completely deaf from loud music being blasted into their ears.
:)

no where near as appalling as canned cheese.

Mp3s are to cd's or even AIFFS as JPG's are to TIFF's.
Not many people care, but it is vastly different.

More, better, faster is today's mantra.
When it comes to music, most folks will accept 2 outta' 3.
Sad thing is that most of today's mp3 consumers have never heard what the music sounds like out of a decent system.
Can't miss what they've never had.

i still do my critical listening on a good system with cd, but like many others, i trade fidelity for convenience on the road

(Oct 2 07, 13:26)Exactly. However, if you really want to get into it, you have to take into account what is lost in terms of mHz using any digital format, as opposed to analog. I still think analog music is punchier and warmer.

would an mp4 make you happy?
