I appreciate how you're pissed off. MAybe it's heavy handed and I'm not sure it's the right solution but Over-liberalism has failed for the past 20-30 years. In a time of ridiculous escaltion in random stabbings and shootings and extremist violence - this type of governmental approach may fuel the fire but I for one don't want to return to those self-conscious ways. We'll all have to live with it unfortunately, the same way that hundreds of Londoners who's families died in terrorist violence would probably welcome the fact that you - that anyone is being stopped.

the other people i saw stopped had got off trains. 1 was a guy in a suit, the other a girl looking smart for a corporate job and the other was a guy who was smarted up for work too.

the risk of being a victim of knife crime is statistically a shit load higher than that of ANY "terror".
Especially in Scotland which, including Lockerbie, has had exactly 2 "terrorist attacks" since Jacobite times.
As such I for one would be a lot happier to see the one-hand-down-the-tracksuit-bott...
getting stopped and searched than "random" searches - at least they would have a success rate in double percentage figures.For "random" searching to work there would need to be tons more "enforcement officers" doing the searches, so that at least 50% of all people get searched every day.

random searches are fucking pointless anyway, I'd be surprised if it has ever worked in this context. Kon, can you imagine what it would be like if the polis rocked about stopping people of a particular race every day as they go about their business? meh, fuck living in that country.
not to mention that in scotland the asian community is far far less "statistically likely" to be kicking about drinking buckfast and stabbin cunts.

i really wouldnt have a problem with being stopped and searched if i knew it was going to make the world a safer place. and that the searches that were being done were actually constructive towards tackling something.
if they were to use this initiative to tackle knife crime though, they arent going to find many culprits by stopping and searching the completely wrong statistic. i.e stopping and searching grannies isnt going to stop knife attacks cos they dont carry out these kind of attacks.

Random checking will never work by its very nature, consider this:
1).
0.00001% of people are guilty (assuming 1 terrorist -carrying materials to identify him/herself as such - per every 10 million people)2). Even carrying out 10 million simultaneous searches would not guarantee finding any.
The sheer numbers prohibits using properly "random" searches, it does serve to keep the populous nervous and annoyed though.

The sensible thing to do if they DO want to crack down on street crime/terrorism IS to "fuck PC" and target the people who are 'statistically' potential offenders rather than random members of the public.
