yesterday morning just before 9am i was walking into Waverley Station, Edinburgh to fire up to Dundee for a meeting when I was stopped by a Policeman (from Special Terrorist Unit - kitted out to the max!) and informed that he was stopping me under section 44(2) of the Anti-Terrorism act 2000 and that I was to be searched.
He filled out a pink slip with my name, d/o/b, address and took down details of what i was wearing, asked me where i was going and what i was doing before looking in the rucksack i had.
The reason for this?
Its the police exercising their new right to be able to stop and search ANYONE for ANY reason in an attempt to maybe stumble across some terrorists someday somewhere.
F*CKING BOLLOCKS if you ask me!The time i was stood there and the rest of the time in the station I saw the police stop and search a few other people. Three of them were white males about the same age as me and quite obviously UK citizens and one white female probably about the same age too.
Now ..... statistics show over the past, what - 20 years, that terrorist activity is NOT carried out in the UK by professional average white male citizens.Im not meaning that in ANY racist way - it's just FACT!!
So what the f*ck are they doing wasting their time stopping me?!It's to keep the police force being seen as a "Politically Correct" body. If they were just to stop people of ethnic minorities or immigrants (the people statistically more likely to commit a terrorist act!) then the police would be persecuted for not being PC and being racist.
Which in reality is a load of bollocks, again, its just FACT!!
In order to remain "PC" the police have to waste their own time and taxpayers money as well as the people they stop's time. This is scary! stuff like this comes in in drips and drabs. occasionally you'll see the police dotted about stopping people like this then next thing you know it's the norm.
Oh yeah, and i forgot to add, when I arrived back in Edinburgh there was no police in the station randomly checking people.
I can assume from that that the police must have some kind of intelligence suggesting that terrorists dont attack after 9.30 am maybe?Crock of shite!!!
Waste of TIME and RESOURCES!!!
Waste of taxpayers money!!!

[ ] Private Parts ExposedIt is kinda funny and ive been laughing about the whole thing but it IS scary that the world is turning this way and this level of violation of privacy will become the norm.

----------this is exactly what i was saying to people at work that afternoon.
by police being able to stop ANYONE for ANY REASON it means that they are going to end up finding stuff like that on people, people who - ok they ARE breaking the law by having a few spliffs on them - but they arent really hurting anyone and the police and everyone wouldve been oblivious to the lawbreaking if they hadnt searched the person.
OK maybe drugs (even soft drugs) is a poor example as they are 'bad'.
but say i was going to dj somewhere and i had a bag full of copied cd's - what would happen then? would they follow it up?
would i be branded a pirate?

Sounds shit mate, but unfortunately because of a few bonkers extremists, this is the society we now live in, plus the ultra PC thing, I agree is ridiculous, off topic a bit but I have a friend in the army whose garrison was not allowed to fly the Union Jack because fears it might upset the surrounding community (the majority being of ethnic origin) but I bet your bottom dollar if you ask any of them iif they were offended by the flag being flown the answer would be a resounding no!
Who makes all these stupid decisions?!

I think its perfectly sensible that scruffy hippy pot smokers are lumped in with these dodgy terror types.
You are as much of a threat to the British Way of Life as Kuz is, my man.

(Aug 10 07, 02:28)Remember our Cuban discussions? One thing I saw there for sure: unlike adults, kids there seemed naturally happy, smiling in their blissful ignorance. So I guess I had my share of fun back in 1984 and I hope you had some in your previous incarnation!!
