do you find you have better luck stylizing the hell out of your resumé or keeping it rather vanilla and basic?post sassy examples and win a prize!

i keep it simple but most design heavy / super creative shop looks for your type treatment on your resume

Keep it short and simple, I never read CVs more than two pages.

CV is short sharp and succinct. The accompanying work samples work to showcase the content more and therefore more laid-out but typographically, the CV is as to-the-point as possible. You put any design on a page and I promise that another designer will tut even if so in their head.

I've never see the point in putting your interests. I don't care if you like reading or canoeing at weekends...

most times our first contact with a potential job offer is not with the creative types, but with the office types. they dont care if you can layout your resume very nicely. they just need the info, plain and clean and simple. all the info they need to know should be clearly and very legibly for them to navigate, use ACTION WORDS to begin each sentance with and make sure your grammar is corrrect, proof read it many times and give it to a few other people to proof it as well...
here is a list of ACTION WORDS jsut for resumes: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/ha…
ask the type guys here which font is best...or im sure they already posted it.

also, try to format your resume to use words in the job description.
single page, clean layout. easy to read.
as for type treatment, what do you all mean by that? i'm going to be looking starting next week and i plan on going over my resume again.
thanks and good luck!

one girl's cv had adult modeling on it as a past job.

I think people mean to actually tweak the type in your resume, not just copy/paste it from MS Word. Get your type size right, adjust leading, tracking, H&J, etc.

I wouldn't recommend using word to format a cv. I've seen a few like that before and they go straight in the bin.
Make sure it can be printed/photocopied easily or black n white and keep it simple, ye big bollocks!

make your resume in illustrator, export as a PDF.
dont even go near word!!

Actually, I use word for grammar/spellcheck. I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to writing, but when I'm tired or in a rush (which it always seems like I'm updating my resume in one of those states) my typing skills go downhill fast.
Then I copy/paste it into Illustrator.
