    most times our first contact with a potential job offer is not with the creative types, but with the office types. they dont care if you can layout your resume very nicely. they just need the info, plain and clean and simple. all the info they need to know should be clearly and very legibly for them to navigate, use ACTION WORDS to begin each sentance with and make sure your grammar is corrrect, proof read it many times and give it to a few other people to proof it as well...
