Although it will be difficult it can turn out to be a positive thing depending on the mentality of the parents. My wife and I have been together since we were kids and had the same thing happen around that age. In this instance it was a huge motivation and changed my mentally around 180 degrees in a positive direction. We are married today and are successful. It can bring a lot of love and fun to your family in the future also.

I found out the boyfriend was planning on proposing in the near future so I'm hopeful that he will step up to the plate on this as that will make the whole situation that much smoother.
*crosses fingers really hard.

(Jul 16 07, 13:53)ouch. i hope it works out for you all.
on another note, you might want to make sure that your sister is ready to be married before she adds another variable to an already difficult situation. i don't know where they are in their relationship, but just make sure she understands that she still has the choice not to get married if she's not ready, ad that deciding against marriage doesn't mean that she will be doing it all alone.

It always works out, in the end. :)

Update: She told the boyfriend, who then proposed. Turns out he was planning this over a month ago and didn't find out about the baby until today so he just did it a little earlier. This makes a bad situation a little better. I still think its sad but at least its taking a positive turn.

Thank goodness. At least he seems to be somewhat decent (even though he was planning it before, and not that I know him, obviously).

But I do have to admit, 17 seems young for either marriage or a baby nowadays...

aw, ninj...
... tough situation... one that requires loads and loads of love.
She's scared out of her mind - like a few others have said... 'she knows she's 'screwed up' so-to-speak'... she doesn't need any judgment and doesn't need to hear 'how?' or 'what were you thinking?' - but just the opposite...
...MAD love and support.
Best wishes, man... like Dobs said... this can be an exceptionally happy time for all. ;)

haven't read all the responses, but I hope that, with your support, she comes out of this happy. Good Luck.

sarah silverman says the best time to have a baby is when you are a black teenager -- is your sister black?
