Freaky Noises

Last night I was up late working on my website. I was the only person in the house who was awake and the only light on was in the den where I was sitting.
About 1:45am I heard four or five slow, loud footsteps (like shoes or boots on wood floor) in the living room and a noise like something heavy being placed on a wooden table or floor. I went to look but there was nothing there.
I knew it couldn't be an intruder as the alarm system on the house lets off a signal anytime any one of the external doors is opened.
I know for sure I didn't imagine the noise, I was sitting in silence on my computer, no tv, no music, no alcohol.
It's the second freaky thing that's happened to me in this house...
About three months ago I was in the den watching TV. I got up to go to bed just before 2am and turned the TV off, placing the remote on the coffee table. I stood up, walked towards the door and just as I was about to turn the light off the TV turned itself back on.
I nearly shat myself. I froze for about 30 seconds then walked back to the remote to turn the TV off. As I was standing there I got a freezing cold chill up my legs and back, like someone had opened a door and a draught blew in.
This house is freaky and it's not even that old.
Anyone else had any similar experiences?

I had this feeling when I was about 10... turns out my sister used to wake up at 2am to get drinks.
maybe someone is not meant to be up and when you check they are hiding.

This guy I knew a few years back had an identical story. BOOM, three days later, his head was in the microwave oven. Game over for him. It was even on grill setting. Took forever to clean that bitch out.

You probably have some other being in the house. Seriously.
Maybe check up on the history of the house or the grounds upon which you live.

the scariest part is the chill factor.... somethings up

if it's a ghost at least y'all have things in common. similar hours, it likes the same tv shows as you (but doesn't like it when you turn off the tv when it's still watching).

I've always wondered if you can be friends with a ghost. Like Casper.

You should try and scare him back. Like you sitting doing a little freelance and you throw a dictionary against the wall at random then fan the are to make a cool breeze

can't blame a ghost for wanting to watch tv.
i have far too many ghost stories to write down. i've told a few before. basically i used to work at a restaurant/hotel that was 110 years old. it was a mansion, built into a hotel by two sons against their mothers wishes. she, for about 40 years lived in suite 101. she died in suite 101. i'd get at least one call a night from suite 101 about strange shit happening.
hot tub water started to boil or turns ice cold.
lights turn on and off.
bed moved.
footsteps.
bathroom mirrors would be fogged up for no reason.
i hated that room. even delivering food to that room sent chills up my spine.
i've seen with my own eyes enough things at place, including an apparition, that i believe in ghosts/spirits.
check it's history dude.

my last place had a ghost, but I was cool with him. He was murdered dead by his friend with a knife. A few weird things happened when I first moved in. But he knew I was cool with him so it was all cool. My friend kept wanting me to smudge him out (burning white sage and telling him to get out), but I figured we could just co-habitate, he still owes me rent =(

(Jul 10 07, 07:06)is that the reason you moved in?
- ephix0
Yes, a hot ghost would be nice. Not that you'd see them all the time, but....yeah.

(Jul 10 07, 07:06)Fella, my flat is older than that.
Most pubs I drink in are older than that.
The london underground is older than that.
I aint seen shit in any of them.

moth, last time I was at yours I'm sure I was visited by a strange coffee coloured apparition who tried to steal my wallet in the middle of the night.
right freaky it was; big shorts and stripy socks...
