This about sums it up..
We've never seen things from Tony's perspective, so why would we start now? And wouldn't we at least know who killed him?
No. Tony's story simply ended abruptly. Since we didn't have to a chance to say it before, we'll say it now: Goodbye, Tony. Looks like you won't go to prison (not yet, anyway), and you won't rat, and you won't finally get your come-uppance, dying in a bloody heap. You'll be immortalized eating onion rings, chuckling, focusing on the good times.
Just like the rest of us. Going to hell in a red leather booth, with Journey playing in the background.

FUCKING BRILLIANT ENDING.
I've never been so worked up over a scene on any show in my life. I felt like I was sitting there about to get whacked.
After the initial disappointment at the TV going black, I said to myself "Wow. Mr Chase, you have outdone yourself".

i thought the ending was absolutely amazing. first off, the tie-in with 'the godfather' and 'a bronx tale' was great. secondly, tony is seen eating an orange towards the beginning of the episode which made me say 'hes dying tonight' because of what an orange symbolized in 'the godfather'.
also, everyone in the restaurant was in an earlier episode. the guy at the counter was phil leotardo's cousin. the trucker was the guy christopher car (or truck) jacked. the black dudes were the guys who tried to kill tony but barely missed. so, every one of them had a story behind them, which made it even better.
the cut to black was awesome as well. very well executed. the scene was impeccably directed as well.

I am going to have to look closer at the characters in the final scene. That is odd enough to make it seem like it was more of a dream. I also heard that when he sits down he is wearing a different shirt than he has on when he comes in.

Chase just played a very huge mind fuck on all of us.

after watching it again, here are a few quick thoughts:
* meadow really does suck at parking. you could land a jumbo jet in there.
* tony isn't wearing another shirt. he just took his jacket off.
* onions rings are awesome
* as i read somewhere else, but realized even more: tony is the luckiest man alive. no one hears the songs they picked in the span of their dinner.
* members only jackets kick ass.
* that song sucks and now im gonna have to hear it even more now.
* the boy scouts are from an earlier episode, just can't figure out where though.
* tony picking his head up whenever the bell rings defines the series.
