Are all the good designers employed right now? The place I'm at is looking for another Senior Interactive Designer and we can't get anyone in here who doesn't suck ass. The pay is really good, the benefits are really good, the work is solid and engaging. I don't get it.
Anyone in the Boston area know what's going down? Anyone else having the same problem right now?

All of the good designers have fled New England.

start outsourcing the work, feed us freelancers!
But really, if it's a project to project thing, put us up in some temp housing or fly us out for key meetings, etc. I'm game for that.

(Apr 20 07, 10:46)I agree completely. I'm very happy that the state of the industry is solid and that good people are employed and everyone seems to be doing relatively well.
It's just a pain in the butt to get someone in here, that's all.
I know the freelance game very very well but decided that I wanted to chill out for a bit and work 40-50 hour weeks instead of 80-100. I still do freelance on the side and pull in an additional 20-30k a year on top of my regular day gig design salary...but I just needed some time to focus on a few other personal projects and full-time freelance wasn't allowing for that at all.
We already have a list of freelancers we use every time we need one so we are really looking to get someone full time in here.
Any other F/T freelancers looking to chill out and cut back on hours and still make some good money?
They pay on the mid to upper end of the AIGA/Aquent Salary List for Senior Interactive Designers in Boston. So the comment about salary versus cost of living doesn't really apply here.

designing diagrams and interactive presentations of what to do in case of global warming... duh

I will be in Boston over Memorial Day, I am not a good designer in the least but I am hireable (not a word) and will make working at your office more pleasant by about 200% by my good natured attitude and Hollywood good looks alone.

they all work at Digitas and sit in glass space pods.
It’s 1998 all over again. You should buy a Porsche.
