I am taking an ad class, and I would like some oppinions on this concept. Keep in mind it is just a sketch comp ao the artwork isn't important.
The Ad is for listerine pocket mist which is like binaca for 2007. The target is a 17 yearold highschool student.
The brief I have to follow is
Listerines pocket mists portability will make sure you are prepared when it finally happens.Let me have it. Is it good, bad ,great, be honest.
Thanks in advance.

I like it, but I'm not sure it would resonate with 17 year old males...
Maybe 24+the slogan is catchy, but the promise of "confidence" alone isn't painting a vivid enough picture for this crowd. I think you need a bit of sex appeal, as that's really what promise of 'confidence' comes down to for a 17 year old male.
As an example, look at Axe brand fragrances. In their adverts, Young men spray them on and woman can't help themselves. As cliche as it is, it's totally speaking to the 17year old crowd.
Now that's a bit over the top, and I don't think it would work for a family brand like Listerine, but you might be able to pull off something a bit tongue in cheek.. maybe a young man with messed up hair and a lipstick smudge looking dazed in the background?
my $.02

kids get laid when they're 6 now.
i think you've missed the boat.

as a constructive bit of criticism, I think people at that age are REALLY worried about what other people think of them. those are some super self-consciece years.
Maybe something along the lines of people vomiting around the person as they walk around the streets?
A "For the Love of God. Freshen Up!" kind of feel?
Just throwing that out there.

i also like monnom's thoughts, though i think they're a lot more male specific. I guess it depends on what your demographic is.

OR.....
you could have like the bizarro situations..
like the 3 horse(wo)men of the apocalypse pinning this guy up against a wall.. and at least hes got the things in his pocket coz...
"Listerines pocket mists portability will make sure you are prepared when it finally happens."y'know... thust throwing it out there ;)
- monNom0
ah , I guess I added that 'male' part in myself.
whoops.
never the less, it all comes down to kissing.
- Gucci0
haha.
or you could try some rumour like situations... a là
"i hear if you put it on the tip of your cock before sex you can go forEVER!"
ok... that's just rude.

get that still from the movie 'the graduate' when the womans leg is framing the shot.. and the guy is checking out his mates mum in the buff...
and then stick the packet of gum in the corner
Listerines pocket mists will make sure you are prepared when it finally happens.
- Gucci0
i thought you were going to suggest he put the packet up her whoo-ha.
that would make for a great ad.

ha ha
"stick it wherever she likes - just make sure u have them"

I think the weakest thing about this is that it in no way has any resonance with the market group it targets.
Portable devices are not unique enough for that demographic, infact, as ALL breathfreshners are small anyway, then portability is a weak thing idea to start on.
Finding an idea that resonates with this demographic is key, such as a situation, action that teenagers understand and how this products benefits canhelp you.

sex sells

agreed on all the above..
+ at a glance i have know idea what it is or what it's for... is it a key ring?as an aside any sort of hygiene product using the word 'confidence' just reminds me of sanitary towels

bottlerocket made the point i was going to make .. these teens (male or female) are likely not going to have those devices with them
i think a funny angle could be to show other items that make a teen feel confident and display their lack of portability .. while showing this as the savior
execution wise .. the spray device looks humongous!
- _salisae_0
or show other portable things that people attempt to spray/put in their mouths that don't help the breath
to appeal to this audience it must be funny/ridiculous

left side = leather wallet with worn oval implying that a condom has been in there for quite some time (a 17 year old will relate).
right side = wallet opened with listerine portable sticking out. "For when it finally happens."
- OSFA0
maybe a scratch and sniff campaign?
before and after?
- _salisae_0
that's pretty good, gruntt. but what about the girls?

Thanks for all the feedback and critiques and ideas.
As I wrote in the post this is targeted to a male virgin 17 year old teen who desperately wants to get laid. So kids getting laid since 6 doesn't apply. I agree that the fact that it is portable isn't a big deal as all breath prodcuts are, but that is the brief i have to stick to .
What I'm tring to get across is that this prodcut will give him the confidence to make the move, of course getting laid is the final goal. But I would like to steer clear of making this look like an Axe ad or a condom ad.
That said i like the 4 girls of the apocolypse thing.
