OSFA, that league failed miserably because of that. However, America seems to be more star crazy than ever, and they are putting rules into place so that won't happen again.

you are right there my friend, every fukin news have to do with 'celebrities'
I personally, as a soccer lover and player, have never and would never sit and watch an MLS game. It is like watchin a high school soccer game between kids. I don't think him coming to US and A will make me change my mind.
There's something about watching a soccer game being played on a half grass/half dirt football or baseball marked field er, pitch.

yeah flav, but what happened when pele came to US soccer?

and George Best (mind you - the drink had him by then)

Yea, I've played my whole life and still do as well.
I don't mind watching MLS games... whenever they are on (which is rarely ... even in the playoffs).
There is no coverage of anything soccer related barely outside of the World Cup in America.
Occasionally they'll have a goal on the Top Ten from a Premiership game to be 'hip' or 'edgy'.
Also, to watch Premiership games, or any other games overseas ... you have to get like a special cable deal because the channels aren't free.
It's 'bollocks', haha.
BoDog paid for an Eagles tailgate my friend had, and they came up to pick us up in a stretch hummer and we were all kicking around the soccerball.
Boy were they in for a treat when not one person cared about the game outside of a betting aspect.
I wore my Celtic jersey because I wanted to use the joke, "Might as well put my football jersey on going to a football game!"
Haha ... because I'm a dick.
I did get 5 people yell out cheers to me during the day though, which I found shocking.

Beeachboy, yea it spiked then fizzled when they left.
One team had all the stars, it was a monopoly basically.
They are making provisions to combat against that in the MLS so it's not one team with Beckham, Ronaldo, etc. making the other teams even more unbearable to watch to the Joe Schmoe.

MLS would be watchable if they actually mowed and watered the grass properly.
The games on fake turf are so much better than that ankle deep crap they have in places like Chicago.

Who's Beckham?
Sincerely
USA

Once Beckham plays in LA, all those skanks like Lohan, Britney, Paris Hilton and rest of trash will start attending the games (maybe paid) to see 'how hot Beckham is'. And once perzhilton or any other magazine starts posting pics of this 'fans', the games will be filled with teenager girls hoping to be cool just like their idols.
Then soccer will take yet another wrong turn in USA.

(Jan 11 07, 09:19)a lot of good actually. it brought attention to the sport. it's the benefit of the sport that the US has a good field of players, even at his age

i heard on the radio this morning that they are amending the rules allowing one player on a team to paid over the salary cap.
- madirish0
they already did.
it is called the 'beckham rule'. seriously.

When Pele came to the US all we would do at practice as kids was try and set each other up for bicycle kicks.
- Mimio0
Maybe now kids will practice their corner kicks...? or their direct penalty shots?
