There'd be a lot of one-handed teenagers in gramme's world.

I hope you are stoked when the reprisal killings begin.

(Dec 28 06, 10:21)So I guess then that a cop shouldn't give me a speeding ticket because I might get pissed off and key his car or not show up in court. A drug dealer shouldn't be convicted and sent to prison because he can still find and traffic drugs there. An employer shouldn't fire an IT guy who's lazy, because they might infect the company's server with a virus.
Give me principles or give me death. So what if people react poorly to justice? We can't control that. We shouldn't try to either. Justice does not mean a blanket solution that will fix everything forever and ever amen. It never has meant that, regardless of the crime.

teenager... LOL

It's a shame that when you are bereft of a sound argument, you resort to sarcasm and insult. I personally don't care to see Saddam's death, I won't be shouting for joy, I won't throw a party. His fate, like his actions, is sad. Sad, and yet just.

(Dec 28 06, 10:17)Well put.

(Dec 28 06, 10:19)here's another way to put it.
it's a real shame that the u.s. was an ally of saddam....
it's a real shame we sold him the equipment to make wmd's (that were used against iran and his own people)
it's a shame we went head hunting nation building in the middle east.
how many hundereds of thoudands will die in the iraqi civil war?
it's a shame saddams execution serves as some kind of preverse justice for right wingies.
it's a shame the the newly destabilized middle east (region) has no less than four nations on the brink of civil war.
it a shame the fools still talk of "victory" in iraq. a new bloody and hate filled iranian ally doesn't eqaul victiory in my book.
and it's a shame so many americans have learned nothing from this.

(Dec 28 06, 10:33)I'd be one of them, or at least I'd be missing a couple fingers. Again, grace is the province of God and personal relationships. Not judges and juries.

(Dec 28 06, 10:37)I think for a first offense they'd only cane you. Like in Asia. Or, for stealing it would probably be the pulling out of a fingernail.
- Mimio0
So you get your fingers and/or hands given back to you in heaven?
- CALLES0

(Dec 28 06, 10:36)Guess what? I agree with most of what you're saying here. I don't like the war any more than you do. There have been 'just' wars in American history, such as WW2 (with the exception of the bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki), but the war in Iraw isn't one of them. No contest there. Nevertheless, Saddam murdered a heck of a lot of people and has earned his reward.

(Dec 28 06, 10:46)I guess we'll never know...
- k0na_an0k0
What if he was just sentenced to prison for 100 years.
How many hijacked planes, blown up buildings, terrorist threats and hostages held for his release do you think would happen?
It's a double edged sword.
Should have put a bullet in his head when they found him in his foxhole.
- Seff0
How many hijacked planes, blown up buildings, terrorist threats and hostages held for his release do you think have happened since his incarceration?
not one

(Dec 28 06, 10:58)I definitely don't think that would have helped his defense.

(Dec 28 06, 11:13)Haha. I stole one of those sucker rings when I was 5 from the supermarket. My mom saw me take it from my pocket when I got in the car.
She had me go back into the store and tell the clerk I stole it. If that wasn't bad enough she then made me go on the loudspeaker and say "My name is xx xx and I am a thief."
I never stole again.
