Why would you want to live in a city where the Maple Leafs play?
- 5timuli0
You really have to want to go, that's for sure.

(Jan 15 07, 13:25)Totally with you on that one, you have to be 100% committed.
I did really want to go but circumstances can change in a lightning flash. My AOR was August 05 and was told 36 months. I haven't told them I'm not going any more though, not after paying all that money. Might as well leave all my options open.

Did you have a job offer?

You'd have to be touched from a hand of the Thatchers themselves not to live in Vancouver if you were a Canadian.
- 5timuli0
I was told there was no point in looking for work until my application was approved or until I had landed there. An employer has to prove they can't employ someone locally to do the same job and there aren't exactly a shortage of graphic designers in Canada.

Well it might be tricky but I met a few people last November who might be willing to try. One firm in particular said they regularly hired from abroad. I'm sure there's no shortage of designers but like everywhere there's always a shortage of good ones.

You're right there, but then there's always a lack of good places to work too!
It all depends on the portfolio I suppose, and from the look of yours you'll have no problems getting work :)
Good luck!

Cheers 5timuli. Good luck to you too. Whether you decide to go or not. Let me know if they ever request your meds even if you don't go.

Come here to Toronto, Canada.
- i_monk0
Last time I checked the majority of design jobs in Canada are in Toronto. Unless you've got a desk waiting for you in Montreal or Coquitlam or Yellowknife, why risk it? You can always move somewhere else once you get in.
- Jaline0
Wow, some of the Vancouverites seem bitter.
Anywhoo....I agree with Ross. Choose one of those cities first, and then, as i_monk suggested, you can change your mind after if nothing goes well. Which I doubt will happen, especially if you live someplace like Toronto, which is a great city. Most of my family lives there. Montreal is definitely where the hottest chicks are (or so I heard), but you can find them in many places if you look. Also, there are lots of celebs that come to Toronto and Vancouver (primarily for filming and festivals) if you're into that variety.

- MSTRPLN0
Come to Montreal
BUT
don't come between Feb 15-March 15, as the FLQ plans to bomb English businesses that don't conform to the language laws, but if they do, it's A-OK
