(Oct 13 06, 14:14)and if you do, remember that the reason you did is because this campaign strated a discussion which led to a donation... the power of advertising.

Pony, When The Independant had a special issue edited by bono and the front cover designed by damien hirst to raise awareness for the campaign a few months back, Alot of NTers (uk) were really against the Bono and his cause (to be honest I an't remember the discussion to be honest)
Having said that, I believe GAP should offer all their profits for the campaign (perhaps even the whole price of each Tee), so they are actually giving something instead of taking 50% profits from the worldwide promo.

the cause itself is excellent but...
what a great brand exercise - one simple name - and colour - across different businesses ... well done whoever did it

What's with the red name? Using commie association on naive clueless kids is a huge turnout for me.
- ********0
the commie terrerists will win now.

i think (red) associates with a critical status not political symbols.

i'm dumbfounded by some the responses to this thread...
50% isn't good enough for some of you... or $10/$200 isn't 'good enough' either...
... how about NOTHING?!!
There is NOTHING BAD being done here and yet some of you seem to be finding fault w/this 'red' campaign or can't help but find somethng about it to criticize ...
... whether it be the corporations involved, your feelings toward bono... OR even your silly social issues - FEAR of being seen in public w/something that others have too...
... grow... up.

---you really think Gap is going to make a ton of cash of this?
If anything they'll cover their overhead - afterall they do employ THOUSANDS worldwide and have rather pricey overhead to keep just one store running.
And what the $#^& is so wrong w/Gap only giving up half of the proceeds?!!!
Where is there a law written that if you want to be charitable... you have to give up everything?!!
Would you rather they gave NOTHING?!!

i think it's fucked up that we live in a world where corporations are profiting off the back of AIDS. They must be...it's just positive advertising. I aint buying one. They can fuck right off. Grr....I might go into a drunken rage if i don't stop typing, so i will...but who the fuck buys GAP stuff anyway, a t-shirt is a t-shirt. Stop spending so much money on shit. Why don't Governments sort it out anyway, they so easily could, instead of building a big fucking shit Dome in Greenwich. that is all.

"a wonderful thing would be for those big companies and Bands to give whatever they want ANONIMOUSLY to a global fund. "
here here.
that would be something.
- PonyBoy0
hey kev_char...
... like i said in my other posts...
... grow up.
"i think it's fucked up that we live in a world where corporations are profiting off the back of AIDS. They must be...it's just positive advertising. I aint buying one."
you think the 'corporations' are in this just to make money...
... you truly are a child w/no inner corporate experience...
... you speak in terms of the 'evil corporation' and have no rationality.
Those 'corporations' such as Gap are what feeds you and your family you dolt.
If we didn't have an economic circle - you'd have nothing to complain about I guess...
... //so you may just have a point.

what is sick is that it takes advertising like this to get people talking about this...is so wrong. This should all be taken care of by the world's richest governments, not us slackers who have to work our arses off if we can even hope of affording a GAP wardrobe (like we'd want one) I can see why it does take this to get peop,e thinking about it, but it shouldn't have to and that is the failing of those in power.
- kev_charlton0
aww man, i'm just drunk.
life is complicated. too complicated for me anyhoo.
best go to bed.
- PonyBoy0
I see kev_char...
... 'the worlds richest governments' have the responsibilty of whiping yours and the rest of the World's asses...
... //makes total sense to me.
oh... and LOL @ "us slackers who have to work our arses off if we can even hope of affording a GAP wardrobe (like we'd want one)"
that's where I say 'grow up'... you have plenty of hate for folks with money... it's rather obvious...
... the funny thing is - those 'rich folks' are what keep you employed and working... and the marjority of them DO CARE about the Aids issue etc etc...
... Gap ISN'T the only company here... THIS IS A JOINT FUCKING EFFORT THAT WILL COST MONEY...
... Apple... Motorola etc etc...
... and all you can do is act like you're some poor whiny 'kid' calling down shame upon those who have more than you...
... even though they're doing good.
my guess is you're an early 20 something who's either in college now... or just recently got out.
to quote your website:
"I have little financial outlay and low overheads, meaning I can charge less for my services and you get better value for money."I think you should reword that to say
"I have little financial outlay and low overheads, meaning I can charge less for my services and you get better value for money AND GIVE ALL MY PROFITS TO CHARITY."

(Oct 13 06, 16:14)exactly. it's not the corporation's fault that people don't respond to anything but advertising, they can only exist because of that fact!
all change starts with people/us/everyone. you can't very well attack any large institution without pointing blame to the people. things like rich governments and corporations wouldn't be there without us letting them....
if those in power have continue to "fail" it's only because we let them. sorry for preaching but it's true.
- kev_charlton0
haha. Don't make stupid judgements about me fella...I couldn't give a shit if i was rich or not, quite happy working to feed my family...but i'll stick to buying cheap clothes with no logos on and giving my monthly direct debit to my chosen charities...
