street art has hit a slump. no one is bombing all city. IRAK and friends are all models and gallerists. the scene is on fire, its just not on the walls like it used to be.

i'm not jaded at all. i just know what i've seen over the past few years. ya some people are nice but most are rude. esp. on the train. you can't deny that.
anybody who wants to throw around internet threats is just a loser. period.
the midwest is boring. part of my family is there. i've never had fun there, therefore to me, it sucks
and lastly, i'm not one of these assholes that moved here and thinks they are the shit. i love new york and living here is awesome...but there seriously is a problem with common curtesy among it's residents.

Yeah, as some people said, it's safe, everybody is nice and the art scene sucks.
I've only been here fore a bit less than two years (from Montréal), but also traveled extensively in europe and lived in Germany for a while and can't help finding New York to somehow have been Disney-ified, being all safe and overridden by young professionals.
The danger was part of the thrill, part of the identity, but seems like it is no more.
Still a good place for work.

i agree with humain. gentrification did make new york lose its edge.
LES was a lot fun 8-10yrs ago as far as i remember. now it's all commercial or driven by wannabes and hasbeens.
it has both good and bad. also the way i see things has changed. the city changes and the new generation of young people will define with whatever they wish while others just move on and do what we do and enjoy different aspects of life.

NYC is a life changing experience, especially if it's your first time here..on your own.. etc. make it yours. you can do anything and everything out here... as for artsy stuff. this is happening this weekend... looks interesting, plus this part of brooklyn is dope.

Chelsea has LOTS of galleries (west side)...most of the museums are above 70 st.... but the city is filled with both.
just walk around everywhere, stumbling into places has worked for me, talk to randoms.. as different as you can be, you will fit in to this city.

MD is ok. more of a place to settle and have kids than it is to excel in a career or in art.
i'd like to see all the people that say NYC is so safe walk around Harlem or the Bronx at night,,,or say bushwick.
You shouldn't give people the impression that there is no danger here at all. You have to be smart as to where you put yourself at certain times of night. I've been mugged twice. Once in the Bx and once in Qns. Just be smart and you'll be fine.

kid robot isn't bad. just small. toy tokyo is bigger with more selection. but if you're in soho on prince it's worth stopping in.
