"it's not what they want, it's what they need. even if this requires to be "institutionalized".. (sp?)

ah! ok.
but (whatever you learn in social courses), you have always shown your own mind. I've been following what you say around here, and I don't think you need someone saying what you need to think.
that's just my op.

Thanks, Witt. Being in school definitely saturates you in certain ideas depending on what stuff you're studying, I guess. Usually it's a good thing but it makes you depressed to know how much you and others really don't know about society.
*you = me, and people in general

A 4th girl has died, and there are others still in critical condition :(
Apparently the killer was 'armed for battle' with over 400 rounds or something, so he never intended to come back out.
There are various speculations, such as: "Investigators also said they were looking into the possibility the attack may have been related to the death of one of Roberts' own children. According to an obituary, Roberts and his wife lost a daughter shortly after she was born in 1997."
Or maybe he went after the child of someone who did something to him 20 years ago, or some girl did something to him a while back.
The police know some things but have yet to release the info.

The media should stop covering shooting as everytime they do they are giving the gunmen there 15mins of fame. My gf works for CBC and they have a policy where they won't cover suicides. I know its a tricky one as shootings involve a lot of innocents but there always seems to be a spate of them once one starts. This is the fourth on in two weeks its got to be more that coincidence eh?

If you watch the news right now there should be a very detailed report about the Amish shooting.
New information:
- the man told his wife (I think it was while he was in the school or in the note he left her) that he had molested two girls in his family 20 years ago, and other things happened at that time too that he doesn't want to discuss.
- he was having dreams about molesting girls, and wanted to do it again.
- police say that there is a possibility he was going to molest the girls he had in the classroom if he had more time, since he planned almost every aspect as if he was going to have a siege. He bought lots of supples from a hardware store and left notes for his wife and 3 kids.
- his brother-in-law noticed that he (the killer) was really unpleasant during the week before the shooting, but the killer's wife said that her husband was calm during the weekend.
- one of the girls managed to escape with her brother, so that's why 10 had to stay in the classroom even though there are 11 altogether.
- he lost a daughter in 1998 or something about a few hours after she was born and never got over that. He was angry with God about it.
- It was very likely he just chose the Amish school because it's close to his house and quite small.

Many of your are going to be pissed at me for this but I don't care.
Drastic times call for drastic measures.
Today, the U.S. government should pass a law that states along the lines that if these scenarios happen again, know that your family will be held responsible. ie... if you kill people, then kill yourself, your family will be tried as murderers and punished as such. The death penalty if applicalble in the state.
In high school, if a students parents are out of town and the student holds a party and gets caught with beer, the parents, even though they were out of town are held responsible. To date, the number of cases reported where students are being caught has dropped significantly.
In this day and age when less and less people believe in God, and suicide is no longer thought of as an instant trip to hell, suicide after killing a few innocent people becomes an easy way out to kill, rape, mame and destroy as much as you can then fuck it... I'm going to shoot myself.
FUCK. THAT.
If tomorrow they passed the law, then any man, woman and child would know their actions would completely fuck up the lives for everyone they love, and hopefully would lower the cases where these low life scumbags pull shit like this.
With 3 or 4 of these in a week, all the media is doing right now is saying "Hey, if you go out and kill a bunch of kids, which, looks pretty easy to do, you can rape them, kill them, leave a bullshit suicide note then kill yourself no worries. Go ahead, do it, then we'll spend a week covering it until the next one happens, it's what keeps us in business."
It's sickening.
Garett.

I see what your saying G, but where does it stop. Do you think they knew he was going to do that. Prison/death penalty is supposed to scare people not to do bad things too. That doesn't workout to much either. If they are willing to kill kids, i don't think they care to much about anything

It's not that his family could have or should have known, it's more psycological for the guy who is going to be doing the shooting.
If he knows his wife, and kids will be put away forever for what he's about to do, maybe, just maybe he's get his sorry ass to therapy and solve his issues, rather than go kill a bunch of kids, then himself knowing that even though he's gone, his wife and kids will pay.
That's what I'm sayin Joy. Hopefully it's enough just knowing those who you love will pay for your actions.

I understand your idea Garret, I just do not agree with it.
Parents are held responsible for children because they ARE responsible for their children.
When a grown man or woman goes off the deep end, it is no one fault but their own.
What if someone hates their family? They just go haul off a few rounds on unsuspecting people then off themselves, knowing that their last thoughts are happy because the family they hate is going to punish from this.
Also, family members of the killers already have their personal demons immediately afterwards.

garett, you are insane.
