never having been the biggest of MUSE fans I went to their show in Denver last night on teh back of a free ticket...and was suitably treated to one of the best rock shows I think I have seen since being in the states.
Absolutely captivating in every way -- if you get the chance to see them n your town please do!

the new album eats it. The first is golden.

i kinda liked that last cd the first few times I heard it...that song with the video was horrible.
I'd rather listen to all my jeff buckley and radiohead cds.

I'll admit it. I really, really like their new single. All their other stuff is cool, but not extremely captivatiing for me in any way.
They just played here last friday. After hearing the buzz about their live performance i tried to buy tix 2 days after they went on sale but they were sold out. A little bummed about missing the show, but not as devestating as others i've had to miss.

I liked their first album. Their new single sounds like a combination of Heart, Abba, and Queen. I still really like it though, has an epic quality that is severely lacking in music today. Its kind of like in the 80s when everyone was doing absolute shit and Metallica was doing some really rich sounding music. At least that's what it's like for me. Lets just hope they don't start suing kids.
On a similar topic, the new Killers is awful. Sounds like a bad remake of The Cars. Not that I was ever into them anyway.

I missed them in LA but some friends saw them in San Deigo and said it was almost as good as seeing radiohead.
I can believe that.

OOS was genius, then the they turned into little moaning bitches.

dont be bitter. I also heard the venue they played in SD was hellacious. It was a gutted movie theatre with no air conditioning and packed full of people on the hottest weekend in san deigo this year during comic-con.
can you say body oder overload?
That alone could have ruined the show for me -- good band or not.

Yeah they played the new SOMA. That place is like making a poop and passing it off as a venue. Also don't really like the owners.
Still, its better than an arena show and I have a feeling this was my last chance to see them outside of an arena or festival-like setting.

I agree with most of what has been said. My gf loves them but I can't see why. His voice is so whiney and shrill. He used to want to be Thom Yorke, now I'm not sure what he wants to be but whoever it is, it's not good.
Radiohead did what muse do now, 10 years ago but since then they've done a dozen other things too (and they dd it all first).
Plus he rips all the rachmaninov themes and shoehorns them into the tunes as if he's some amazing classical pianist which he's not. His guitar playing sucks ass too.
*rant over*

Good point about the rachmaninov ripp offs, very true.
