So Momentum, why would Satran and God have this dialogue in a Christian theological context?
Because God needs to be reminded that he allows evil to exist? That suffering is a test a faith? That would be awfully simplistic I think.
Doesn't take too much imagination to conclude that Satan doesn't think God is worth worshipping and that faith from maknkind is ephermeral.

What demonstrates God's worthiness is when he reaches down to a fallen and helpless creation in love and unmerited favor and provides reconciliation as an absolutely free gift which cannot be earned.
You don't find this in world religions which struggle to force the hand of a reluctant God through religious works.

Call it self-importance if that helps you rationalize away it's validity. It is no stretch for me to accept that humans, with their unique and distinct nature and reasoning ability, hold a special place in God's heart. I believe we are in fact, important to Him.
