every fookin designer has a D70. wtf?
- dan_dan_dan0
It's ridiculous to state that the D70 would afford the inexperienced user greater learning curve. It's contrary to reason. These (particular) cameras are build in the light of classic SLR cameras--they're not point and shoot systems.
The buttons are in different places. So how does this effect understanding/learning photography?
Mechanically and in a practical/traditional sense they're identical. Buying either or isn't going to make understanding photography any easier for the inept user.
This, without mentioning that lens technology is equally important to understand if the photographer want's to produce results outside the realm of, "point and shoot". Further more, the fact that a camera hasn't the capacity to understand and control (or recognize) light, and it's effect on end results.
The back and forth is no more than prejudice in favor of or against a particular camera system. I have a Canon EOS 20D. I'm a believer that Canon has and continues to lead Digital SLR technology--this doesn't change the fact that Nikon systems produce richer (better?) color.
When someone says something is better, it's usually just their opinion.

regardless with a big camera i can pretend to be a photographer so i can take pics of girls

i think the d70 is much more comparable to the canon digital rebel...not the 20d.

(May 20 06, 19:48)...not even close. rebel feels like a toy in comparison.
dan(x3) is right though, it all comes down to preference. it's almost a mac vs pc type of argument..
*although i have macs and a d70s
:)

If I didn't have to buy a house, i would sell you my d1x, and buy the d200
- ********0
kyl, what do you think of that 18-200 vr they came out with?
- kyl30
I want it.
I'm still sporting my non-dx 24-120, which is ok. But before I spend any more cash on camera stuff I just want to see what nikon does with their chip. I doubt they will go with a full frame sensor but I would be bummed if they did.
ken rockwell practically busted a nut over it:
