Note that buddhism wouldn't exist either if people had actually listened to what the buddha had to say.
Islam would still exist based on mohammed's word / teaching And it recognizes that in addition to mohammed's encounter with god, bith jesus and moses also had encounters with the one true god.

Hmm, so you use Darwinism when it suits you, in this case to support your false argument against gay marriage, but then refute it when it seems to not support you.
The problem with this is you had you're answer before you asked the question, and thus, failed to learn anything.

khilled, there are plenty of examples of horrors within traditional family settings. No doubt about that.
The issue here is whether or not the weight of evidence supports it being best for the nation and individuals to legalize homosexual marriage, or not.

You can blame any group you want to pacoT.
If you take a good look at history and really study christianity I think you will see that it is a destructive force that often ignores the tennants of the person who it is founded after.
You are correct my 'opinion' was broad sweeping and not backed up with fact, but I have 'faith' that I am right.

I appreciate that, Crouwel. I know this is super touchy subject. It's virtually impossible to discuss without everybody getting up n' arms.
My main goal is to demonstrate that we can disagree with a position or idea based on it's merits (or lack thereof), not the people behind it.

flagellum, i understand where you're coming from, but would this be such a big issue if the politicians didn't use it as a talking point?
my problem is that a lot of people seem to think htey have the right to dictate what can and cannot be done of those who may or may not have the same lifestyle. simply because a couple girls want to live together and define their commitment to each other legally should not be as big an issue as the intelligence behind going to war.

And c'mon, you know it wasn't Darwin's idea that species have as A goal to procreate. This notion is not necessarily Darwinian. Anyway, I believe in evolution, just not the Darwinian synthesis of NS + RM being responsible for all biological complexity. But that's not what this thread is about, is it? ;)

And if you we're really interseted in understanding Gay / Bi relationships you should be a litter more of a material reductionist, and look through the wealth of literature.
Also seems alot of people could do with having a more naturalistic approach to this, someone already said it, law is there to serve humankind, not the other way round.
