nice v3.
still is a bit too close, or it needs more editing. pull up the curves a bit to make it more unnatural..

Crouwel
I think that gregory crewdson stuff is not hdr. He was profiled in pdn a while back as well as NYT magazine. But I could be wrong.
I know that he uses crazy lighting setups (like movie set style setups) His shoots are massive productions and in my opinion very well done.
Thabks for reminding me of him again. I really respect his work.

cheers, haha!
it's incredibly well done.
i was thinking it could be a combination, as in some shades you can detect really HDR-esque surrealness...it needs to be applied subtle ofcourse, unlike a lot of flickr examples you see, some are way overdone..

Crewdson does not use HDR his photos are made using light effects and by setting up scenes using movie production techniques.

I know I'm coming in late, but I can probably shed a little light on those pics you guys are talking about.
I think there is definitely hdr stuff done top that first gallery you guys are talking about, but I think it's a lot of other stuff as well.
I think it's a modification of the draconian effect , also massive color manipulation done. I think it looks great when done right, but also canb look terrible when done poorly. Real tendy right now in commercial photography. These guys have it down:
