just that I don't know of much canadian hiphop. Especially that would fill 80% of a show mandated by law and not playing much American music.
Could be I'm stupid, but you'd think more of it would make its way south of the border.

Rick, I will give you access to my server tomorrow, I'll make sure there's 2 compilations there, Basements of the Badmen 1 & 2. It's all East Coast, but it's pretty good. Other than that you have Abdominal [who's been on DJ Formats last 2 records] DJ Serious, who's a dope producer..the kids like the K-OS. There's another guy Bronze 1, really nice record...
It's a decent scene, much more low-key than anywhere I can think of...

again there's lots of good canadian hip hop and lots of it does get into the us...more of it doesn't though because it's basically immpossible to compete, after all hip hop is traditionally very america and american's are traditionally very stubborn listeners

Back in college I also worked at a pool company out of Belleville. One day we were called to open the pool at the recording studio/house the Tragically Hip work from in Bath. They weren't there though.

kardinal offishall is probably the most likely to be a huge hip hop star but to hard for him, he'll open for 50cent and get snubbed at the juno's for the rest of his life but his shit is brilliant catchy hip hop at it's best period...
not to mention swollen members, knaan, chocklair...uh...

right on. Don't get me wrong it is just that there are like a trillion american hiphop artists. So if only 20% of it is American or "other than canadian", it would seem that it wasn't honestly representing the genre.

I missed a bunch of posts, but when you listen to a university station, none of this % shit applies...You can't have a 2 hour soul & rare groove show using more than 0.3% Canadian content....

jazz and classical for example...the quotas arn't a strangle hold they're perfectly reasonable...think about it what would a world music show be with 80% canadian? would that make any sense? it makes sense really.
