Besides stress, many chemicals can cause migraines.
Sucks too cause they're all the good ones: nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, and some food preservatives.
They all swell the blood vessels in your brain and optical nerves.

1. Keep yourself hydrated.
2. Keep your eyes off the computer screen. Go outside & look off into the distance.
3. Make sure it is 100% dark & quiet when you sleep at night. Sleep affects how you feel during the day, so make it peaceful.
4. Have your wife shoot you in the foot so your head won't hurt so much.

Have you tried an ice pack?
I know it's stupid, but when I get headaches even Excedrin won't kill, I've found that laying down in a non-bright, quiet, room with an ice pack helps.

I started suffering from migraines my freshman year of college, my kid brother has been a sufferer since he was a baby. For those of you that have never experienced a migrane, its got to be one of the worst pains imaginable. I've had migranes that have caused me to vomit they were so bad. Do you have any triggers or signals that youre about to get one? For me, I start to see an aura or like a kaliedescope effect around my periferals, they eventually get worse until I pretty much have a blind spot. It goes away in about 15 minutes and then the migrane hits. Theres a few things that I found to help considerably:
1. At the onset of a migrane, chug water. Just drink as much water as you can hold down. I drink about 6 full glasses of water in a few minutes. This will help a lot for some reason, but you'll have to piss like a racehorse for a few hours, so it sucks if youre at work or traveling.
2. Just put your head down and close your eyes for at least 15 minutes. Again, you might not be able to do this if youre at work, but sometimes this helps me.
3. Advil. Pop about four and drink a whole gatorade. This worked for me for about a year or two, it doesnt anymore.
4. Hot shower. If you happen to get one while youre at home, stand in the shower with the water hitting your head for about 30 min. Sometimes my headaches are so bad that this is the only thing that helps.
5. Maxolt (?) my fiancee's dad takes this medication that he got in mexico. Its too expensive here in the states and i think in Mex. it costs like 10 bucks a pill. A small price to pay if you got a bad headache. I know it sounds shady taking meds from south of the border, but if youre in serious pain , I'd try anything.
My mom works with a woman who gets migranes sometimes for a week straight, doctors dont understand why. Theyre so bad that she has to take regular sebaticals from work. Whats even stranger is doctors still dont understand completely why people get them.
Good luck man, I know exactly how you feel.

thanks for the feedback
I know my triggers and avoid all of them that I can (I can't control temperature/air pressure though.... yet). Last week was just bad, 4 migraines in 6 days by the end of it... a personal record.
I started getting them in college, about two a week over the summer and then they died back to about one a month, and then until last week they were almost once or twice a season.
anyway, things I've found help are almonds (unroasted, unsalted) and lots of water. Gastric stasis is what makes you throw up though, so after you reach a certain point with the migraine, anything that goes down is going to come back up.

i was hospitalized most of 2004 for migraines so bad it permanently damaged my vision and had me throwing up literally 13 times a day
i spent weeks on the floor screaming and hallucinating and lost 30 pounds
tried every drug including the maxalt mentioned above
got into $60,000 worth of debt over it all because i couldn't even move or sleep, let alone work
sometimes it would stop for a few glorious hours, but other than that it was a constant thing.
then one day it just went away
the single most traumatic and transformative experience in my life
i used to slam my head against the toilet trying to kill myself

i agree with the ice pack thing, cold helps a little
sit in a room with as little sensory input as possible, and stay perfectly still. ALWAYS stay hydrated if you can, don't eat much, as a full stomach will increase blood pressure in your body and make it worse
acetominophen helps a little, vicodin will help you care about it less
intense meditation is what got me through it

Nasal Spray ... Decongestant.
I heard this works from migraine sufferers.
I get cluster headaches. :X

my gf gets them bad, maybe 3 a week. Her doctor suggested pedatolex butterbur, a natural herb that comes in pill form. It's supposed to help regulate blood vessel size. You have to take slow-release magnesium with it for it to absorb though.

My dad gets these sporadic spurts of extreme migranes. They are known as clusters because they come in bunches. Every few years it flares up for a few weeks or months.
He has tried plenty of medicine, but now injects himself with a shot of something (don't know what) and he says his headache is gone within 2 min.

soda works because of the caffiene content
excedrine is best for migraines because of this reason. it pairs caffiene with acetominophen, a synergistic pair which will alleviate mild migraines
