I liked the opening shot of the guy jumping into the cave. But yeah, none have matched the first episode.

i kind of agree with you chossy. none have been as good as the first and i feel a bit disappointed at the end of each new episode. but only because i was expecting sooooooo much! it's still brilliant telly by my reckoning.

huh.. I thought those crystal caves that they spent 10 days underground shooting were some of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
I mean that literally.
Regardless of what happens technologically over the next 250 years - seeing that will remain a relatively unique experience and I view it as somewhat comparable to seeing footage from the descent to one of Saturn's moons or the like...
Did you watch the diary segment, where you could place the size of the formations in the context of the human scale?
Sublime. Stunning. Awesome (in the non-American sense).

(Mar 27 06, 04:52)Damn right. I was well impressed. It's shame that we're shown much I guess.. that people see something that is jaw-dropping and are instantly bored by it.
I'd love the chance to go see caves like that.

"Was I bored? No, I wasn't fuckin' bored. I'm never bored. That's the trouble with everybody - you're all so bored. You've had nature explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the living body explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the universe explained to you and you're bored with it, so now you want cheap thrills and, like, plenty of them, and it doesn't matter how tawdry or vacuous they are as long as it's new as long as it's new as long as it flashes and fuckin' bleeps in forty fuckin' different colors. So whatever else you can say about me, I'm not fuckin' bored."

I never said I didn't like the crystal structures infact I believe I said I really liked it, I could spend hours in there marveling at the timeless wonder of it, for gods sake, however the general content and delivery of the program about caves on the whole was in my opinion dull. I would concede however that the high pans and tracks were rather good. Honestly I feel the onl;y new material was the ariel shots and the muckle crystals.
