I was learning to surf about 5 miles from where that shark was, not sure I'd have bothered if I'd seen the show first.

sure it's got nothing to do with bandwidth costs coverage?
i mean dutch tv is freely accessible over the world, but who cares, since noone speaks dutch.
as for the bbc.........

(Mar 13 06, 03:52)But is dutch tv paid for by a license fee?
In anycase I downloaded a 2gig mpeg version of part one, I'll get part two tonight.

i wouldn't say it was a pile of shit. it's still amazing television, but none of the other episodes are as good as the first.
if you compare this series to blue planet, for instance, it's quite a bit weaker. blue planet was consistently amazing throughout.
i have high hopes for the desert, though.

actually I agree it was shite and the only thing I hadn't seen before was the fancy crystal formations in that American cave apart form that unfortunatly it was sub standard.

We have to pay TV licensing fees here in Germany, too. It's called GEZ. We have to pay a yearly fee on just OWNING a TV, even if you don't want it, plus we have to pay for owning a radio. Soon they want to tax owning a computer or anything you can watch videos or listen to music with.
Makes me fuckin' angry is what it does.

The UK only access might also have something to do with it being a joint venture with the discovery channel...
Either way, go through a UK proxy server and you can access it.

you had seen the 100 meter pile of guano covered in however many species of cockroaches in that cave in borneo?
you had seen the texan cave salamander and the wee birds that make their nests out of spittle and it takes them 30 days and then some thug climbs up a ladder and nicks their nests to make soup?
i wish they had shown the sleeping shark caves where the cenotes emerge into the caribbean, though. that was quite disappointing.

So even though I pay the extortionate license fee I can't watch this when I'm in Oz on hols? stupid policy for a website. great show tho.

I was referring to the 100metre pile of bat shit.

I thought it was great! Fuck the lot of yers!
Was hoping for some ice caves though.

don't get me wrong, soda, it was absolutely gorgeous and amazing.
but the first one was breathtaking. pole to pole contained the best footage i've ever seen of anything, anywhere and the story hung together beautifully.
mountains just wasn't *quite* as impressive.
