Toronto has definately more work, but Vancouver is a great city. You just have to love lots of rain and hockey players who like to take cheap shots!

Calgary and Ottawa never get any love :(

Hey I love Ottawa!! I was there 3 weeks ago for winterlude. Its a great place, with lots to see and do. My next place I will live I think.

(Mar 2 06, 14:05)better :)
I like Calgary because that's where all the athletes go to train for the winter olympics. Most are actually born there, like their parents have some sort of foreshadowing going on...

a long time ago I got a pissed off email from David Gensler because I'd said something about him on NT--he said he'd only noticed it because he came on NT from time to time to make fun of Canadians

We're slowly taking over the world anyway.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Hamilton? Dude, if you're looking for a hub of metropolitan activity then Hamilton is your only choice.
But, seriously, no, forget Hamilton. Toronto is what you want. I've lived in Montreal and it's a much cooler city. Very relaxed and down-to-earth.
I disagree that there's more of a fashion industry in Montreal though. Really, the vast majority is in Toronto.
Plus, Toronto is also where it's at for design work as well.
Montreal is the cheapest city to live in but working there could be a trick if you don't speak french. Not impossible, but it certainly helps to be bilingual.
Vancouver has a laid-back hippy lifestyle but it's more expensive than Toronto and has less work.
As for design communities . . . well, mostly it's a rag-tag bunch that gets drunk and goes to strip bars but I think your best bet would be to hook up with the people on here from Toronto.
There is Flash in TO (the Flash In The Can people) and a bunch of User Groups but I never go to any of those. It's like paying someone to go to work after hours. But they could help find a job.
You can also try www.multimediator.com for job postings.

I'd move there if not for the cold and the fact that they wouldn't let me in
- barbara0
orillia! lol
- Jaline0
omg, it's Barbaraaaah!
Btw, most directors who want the L.A. look decide to film in Vancouver, and the ones who want the NY look film in Toronto.
- barbara0
Jaline! how are you, young one?
>I like the weather in BC but i love the competitiveness of Toronto.
then toronto it is. you gotta love it to put up w/it. ;)
i'd go for montreal.
- Jaline0
I'm surviving. How are you?
Okay, my life doesn't suck.
