what about canadian design communities, where would be a good place to start building a network?

Toronto is awesome. Lots of culture. Montreal is great too, but T.O. is probably the best for design.
Montreal definitely has the porn down.
I was born in Toronto, but I'm glad my parents moved to Ottawa. Seriously, I hate when everything is so crowded. Ottawa is subdued, but there's actually more stuff happening around here nowadays. It's perfectly in between being busy and relaxation.
In conclusion, go to Toronto and visit everything else often.

what sort of work do you do Newyorkish? Do you have some samples, then maybe peeps could steer you in a direction towards the applicable 'canadian design community' for 'networking'. There are actually quite a few disperate groups and it would help to see what you do and see where you'd fit in...

Vancouver's got the Olympics in 4 years, gonna be plenty of work around here.

I am sooo coming over there for the Olympics. Horton, save me a seat! I should be done school by then, leaving me free to do whatever I please.
But I'm not sure I like the wet either. It hasn't even been very cold over here in Ottawa this winter = a good thing. Snow minus the cold is awesome.

yes everyone and their east coast portfolios; stay away from Vancouver.. the moist air will damage your nice pages. really.
- Newyorkish0
my god... not the moist!

(Mar 2 06, 11:57)If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

come again?

Although Vancouver is popularly known as a rainy city, only 166 days per year have measurable precipitation on average, and 289 days per year have measurable sunshine.

Vancouver for smaller, more experimental, independent work. (small business is a big portion of the economy here)
Toronto for corporate, bigger budget jobs and a shite hockey team.
- spiralstarez0
yeah but fack was this winter ever miserably wet. We better get paid out in summer...
