Logo for upcoming snow apparel brand based in Southern California.

I'm thinking record label.

by the way, if you guys happen to see an old yellow/pink/blue splash, just refresh.

i like...and i agree with hot report...does look like a record label logo.
although all the slants in the logo are the same width, it seems like the last slant (the a) doesn't balance out well...but i need sleep, so take that into account : )_..

Looks like a paintbrush. Also, "SNOW COMPANY" is too close to "NEMA" and the spacing between the 2 words is a little much.
Try making the icon either bigger or smaller than the relating text. Some may read it as "ONEMA". What I would do is make it smaller and place it at the top right, filling in some of the empty space the "A" creates, thus balancing the overall logo.

(Jan 25 06, 00:02)thinking i should decorate the "A" to balance the whole word?

much better, i'm liking it!

I don't get snow or winter at all. Maybe something more like a snowflake? Or Ski tracks or something. I'm just throwing it out there, but yeah honestly I'm feeling like its some kind of gas company or industrial entity.

SamWu,
www.burton.com
www.forumsnowboards.com
www.oakley.comi might follow the pattern of avoiding a symbol that relates to the snow :)

the second definitely looks a lot better
but, yeah, i agree - i'm not seeing snow in the mark. paintbrush, falling candle, leaf, baby bird poking head through a hole, but nothing snow related.

bumpin . need more feedback plase

At the risk of sounding stupid, I cant read it at first glance... my opinion is its okay to mess with letterforms if you have custom made them, or there is a rationale behind it (such as reversing e's in a russian name or something similar). But dont mess with these letters and start flippin' em just to make em fit into a logo concept....
I also think the mark should be more prominent (what is the mark?) and that the typeface used for 'snow company' is not so good...
Ill have another look now, see if I can give you any ideas on how to improve....

DavidFelt,
balancing the angles of the N with the A was my goal with flip-flopping and slicing. i myself find the "n" almost easily ignored and some might even overlook it because of its relation with the "a" and the more attention it grabs
along with the "snow company" it could go for a change, but i've been having trouble choosing the approriate font

The E is a bit too wide and "snow company" is too close to "NEMA" I think the type needs a bit more work, just with spacing and such as it seems a little too congested overall...

- mr_snuggles0
that snow company type is better
- nema0
snuggles,
should i alter the "e" to give the illusion that it's skinner? because at the moment it's about equal width to all letters except for the "m" (widest letter)
- DavidFelt0
Why not just use avant garde for the 'snow company' text, seems logical, rather than introducing a secondary typeface, I still feel the 'n' isnt right though!
can you tell us what your concept is behind this?
- mr_snuggles0
yes nema, it's optically a bit too big and I agree with david, maybe Avant garde is a logical choice...

imo...
...the logo looks restrictive/rigid, corporate, static and lacking emotion. not attributes i would associate with a snow apparel company. some of the ideas (modified letter forms) look like good starting points but overal the logo is just too angular.
just my opinion, take what you will from it...
