make sure to watch your back...you don't have to walk around paranoid, but just use extra caution.
other than that...have fun, get drunk, pick up a nice mexican girl and make out.

You'll get by in the major areas using Spanglish. Just brush up on basics. Directions, everyday objects, etc.

you will be hung upside down, tequila poured into your mouth and a big Mexican man will shake you until you feel like you are going to vomit.

Everything, and I mean everything is negotiable.
Not so much drinks and food and what not, but anything you buy on the street, fares, goods, services, that sort of thing.

I don't know much about D.F. but just heard things, to be honest. Stayed in Quintana Roo, Akumal and Tulum near Cancun.

Soda is fine.
In quite a few places there is an above normal bacteria content in the water. Fine for them, but coming from the states our bodies aren't used to it, you'll be stuck on the pot for days if you drink their water.
Like in a restaurant. Ask for bottled water, not the tap they pour into your glass.
Have fun. It really is a wonderful place.

A lot of the people will 'appear' to be shorter than you. They're actually giant and youre really in San Diego.
