also, last time I checked it takes more than a woman to "replicate an organism." so, that sort of takes the man out of the picture completely. half of that "organisms" dna has no connection whatsoever to a woman's uterus.

pardon me for not seeing human life in an embryo/foetus whose entire mode of being depends on a symbiotic relationship with the body of the woman, so intimiate that it is difficult to tell where the mothers body ends and the embryos begins. Pardon me for thinking that the woman must have total control of that symbiotic relationship and it has absolutely nothing to do with society at large what she choses to nurture inside herself (or not as the case may be).

I'm with the NDP here. The Liberals (read: tories in drag) are no different than the Conservatives.
Who, by the way probably won't win much more than a minority, which won't make it past two years before it goes down in flames. Minority governments are also when our country get's it's most progressive legislation it would seem. Nothing to fear there.

A baby is also quite dependent on a mother after being born, does this make it any less of a child? I don't think dependency has any less to do with being human. Does a person hooked up to life support become not human because they are depending on a machine?

A woman must have total control? A woman should be able to choose whether she nurturles a life inside herself or not? Sure - I agree with that. How about being responsible enough in the first place to either not have irresponsible sex or being adult enough to live with the consequences of actions. A symbiotic relationship is simply the process of the baby's development - it really doesn't make a baby any more or less human. And from the start, it's pretty clear that the child is separate from the mother - not sure what you learned in Biology class.
