Why must I go to the Sudan when there is an appalling amount of poverty and suffering on my own doorstep?
Just a thought. I greatly admire people who are working in Rwanda, The Sudan, South Africa, The Ukraine, etc. I personally know many who hold to a wide variety of political opinions. Morality always has and always will be bigger than politics.

(Jan 22 06, 21:46)*know many people who work there with the starving, dying, & desolate.

I am sorry I don't fit into your narrow paradigm of moral and political possibilities, but that's something you'll just have to accept, spk.

gramme:
"he's the only Democrat who seems to have any moral sense"
what a foolish statement...
and which political leader would you say HAS moral sense?
listen to your mom stop digging.

(Jan 22 06, 21:51)I could say the same about 'digging' to you, spk. So far none of your accusations are holding up.
I said 'Lieberman's the only democrat with ANY moral sense', I did not claim to believe that he's some paragon of virtue.
I actually have a very deep-seated mistrust of politics and politicians in general. I would love to wipe the slate clean and start over with a whole new crop of leadership. There is no leader living in the world today whom I would hold up as a great example of morality and fairness.

this conversation makes canadians moronic like americans.
vote who ever you want.
what ever your reason.at least you are voting. its better than not voting
my opinion, Liberals and Conservatives has been on a race to who can come up with more empty counter promises every week. NDP, doesnt really know where it stands, since it seems as though, it wants to distinguish it self from the other two but all the "good" emotional triggers has been taken.
Green party, as always has sit on its own agenda. Maybe not strong enough to be a national leader, yet.

You can keep trying to turn my words against me all night spk, it won't get you anywhere.

spk, are you pro-choice? If you are, then I think you will find no small hypocrisy in the words of Margaret Sanger, the mother of the pro-choice movement in America:
On blacks, immigrants and indigents:
"...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor peopleOn the right of married couples to bear children:
Couples should be required to submit applications to have a child, she wrote in her "Plan for Peace." Birth Control Review, April 1932On the purpose of birth control:
The purpose in promoting birth control was "to create a race of thoroughbreds," she wrote in the Birth Control Review, Nov. 1921 (p. 2)On the extermination of blacks:
"We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population," she said, "if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Woman's Body, Woman's Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America, by Linda GordonOn respecting the rights of the mentally ill:
In her "Plan for Peace," Sanger outlined her strategy for eradication of those she deemed "feebleminded." Among the steps included in her evil scheme were immigration restrictions; compulsory sterilization; segregation to a lifetime of farm work; etc. Birth Control Review, April 1932, p. 107Hypocrisy spoken, written, and published by your so-called pro-choice friends, my man. I don't know about you, but I hear no advocacy for human rights there.

People, keep in mind that Paul Martin had NOTHING to do with the sponsorship scandal. Nor did anyone in his party. The current Liberal government is completely innocent.
So, if you're looking to punish the Liberals by voting Conservative then you're just punishing yourself.
Think of this way, if your brother committed a crime should you be punished for it?
- dr_strangelove0
I agree this current gov had little to do with the scandal. It was Cretien who was the real crook.Only thing these liberals are guilty of is running a horrible campaign. I could have done better. Please vote Liberal !!!
- Visia0
agreed Strangelove. They really did fuck up the campaign and I don't doubt that you could have done better. I know I could have.
The pace was way off and it lacked any sort of "zazz" at all. But, hopefully it'll work out to another Lib minority. I can only hope and pray.

What is all this voting talk about?

gramme.
neither you, george bush, dick cheney, pat robertson or dick cheney have any business telling my niece, my girlfriend or my sister what she should be able to do with their body.
none. choice is the law of the land held up by dozens of supreme court rulings.
choice is a complex moral issue best handled by a mother, her family and her doctor - not the state.
get over it.
- spot130
You can't compare Canadian politics with American politics. The systems and policies are completely different.
Paul Martin can barely say two words without studdering like a retard.
If you think that the entire contry is going to change over night, your retarded.
And, finally, if the conservitives win, it will be a minority and they will be gone within a year in a half leaving a less crooked Liberal government.
What's the problem?
- planet010
you're right spk, any woman can do whatever she wants with 'her body.' I don't think that's the issue gramme has with abortion. Baby (fetus if you like - that makes it sound less human) does not equal woman's body. women can do whatever they want - have sex, do drugs, drink, whatever. they just need to know that actions have consequences (such as the creation of a human life). that's basically what is wrong with so much of america - no one wants to take responsibility for individual actions.
and turn it around on yourself, if liberals are all anti-war and compassionate, should they not be against abortion? that argument works both ways - it's clearly not black and white as both sides contradict themselves according to your logic.

eat dick.
a woman's uterus is not public space.
- ********0
what happened to KuzIII?
he get shot?
- spot130
Abortion is not even an issue this election. It's been widely implemented and it's not going to change.
You're watching too many Liberal party attack ads.
- planet010
this has nothing to do with a woman's uterus - certainly, there is nothing public about that.
>eat dick.

>a woman's uterus is not public >space.

"Abortion is not even an issue this election. It's been widely implemented and it's not going to change. "
gramme was confused from the start - he started some rant about joe lieberman and has been chasing his tail ever since.
