i really appreciate all the opinions, to be honest - i haven't had to really "sacrifice" that much for my career, always had safe 9-5 design jobs, with some moderate freelance, this is the first time something like this has fallen into my lap.

that's a long fucking commute. you'll spend 8 hours a week driving to and from work. that's an entire workday.
gruntt
(Jan 10 06, 08:32)I spend more than that going to and from work and it's only 26 bloody miles one way along the M62.

I take the bus/train for about 2 hours (both ways) every day I have school, which is four times a week.

i couldn't do it..
unless a luxury company car was part of the deal.
will you be on contract or an employee.. ? 100 clicks x2/ week could add up to lots of tax deductable expenses.

I go 33 miles each way 5 days a week. Takes me about 40 min. in the morning, closer to an hour in the evening.
Traffic and commuting is the price you pay to live in SoCal I guess...though I hate relying on a car.
If I had your opportunity I would go for it. Sure it may be a little longer, but you only have to drive 2 days a week. I'd rather get it all over with at one time than painfully merge into stop and go traffic each morning.

I would definitely hate it if I had to drive to school all the time. I prefer the bus, but that's because I can do other things at the same time, instead of driving. And I don't have to be awake, haha. There are downsides, of course. Sometimes it's busy. But it's not too bad here in Ottawa.

i now commute about 6 miles each way, which takes10-15 minutes tops. :)

i do 140 kms per day
i like my car so i enjoy it most of the time...sometimes it gets to me though. like when i just want to be home and i leave work and know there is another hour before ill get there
ill tell you...you see some crazy shit on the road when you drive so much

I just went from 15 to 60 miles each way 120 total. 2 days a week. 3 days at home. For about 10k more than I was making. I was loving it until I was asked to start doing it 3 days a week. I had an agreement which was up for review after a 6 month period. I felt like they suckerd me in with the 3 days at home deal. Make sure they won't switch it up on ya.

Don't commute very far distance-wise, but traffic is sick so it's not unordinary to be stuck in there 3 hours a day. On awesome mornings, I get to work in an hour 15.

sucks, jox!

f-that, if the job is so gravy move closer.
I get to ride my bike 2 and from everyday. 5 miles each way. just enough to wake up in the morning. makes like so much better.

doesn't work like that - wife works here, goes to school full time - no jobs here for a design.

Also, the weather is extreme over here. You can't drive all the time, or you don't have enough time to drive that slowly.
