i just got a job offer the only downside is there is a 100mile commute twice a week. just curious if anyone else has a serious commute, how do you like it,
it seems to be it's just a means to a greater ends.

100 miles one way, twice a week. everything else is perfect, i just don't know anyone who commutes so i can get an account of what they think of it, etc.
- gruntt0
that's a long fucking commute. you'll spend 8 hours a week driving to and from work. that's an entire workday.

its definitely not ideal- but its doable. its not everyday

Ya, if its only twice a week then do it. Just make sure thats all it is and will ever be. Thats a killer. I commute about 17 miles each way every day of the week and its enough for me.....granted, traffic around here during commute is an f-ing bitch.

wtf... yeah forget that

I drive 104 miles every day.(52 each way). Five days a week. It's easy.

that sucks yo.
although my new job takes me almost an hour to get to.i was reading this blog from an ex google employee and he said he flew to work every day! it was like 3 hours.

wow.
I only commute about 20 round trip/day now. Used to be 28. Commuting sucks no matter how you look at it

i used to drive 80 miles round trip everyday... it's no accident that i eventually married a girl i used to work with. it's all about motivation.

a couple of months ago i went from 113 miles round-trip daily to 7.
it is such a big deal. every day i feel like i get to sleep in and leave early.
plus, a winter commute can be a real bitch in these parts. not anymore.

100 miles one way sounds insane - it'd mean you have to leave the night before, spend a night somewhere, the spend one more night before you come back.
seems like you'd end up wasting a lot of time + messing up your regular schedule.
i wouldn't do it.
then again, this coming from a person who has 2-mile commute per way on bike. but it sure makes my life easy.

40mins drive

i wouldn't do it.

I commute 7 miles one way, which takes me somewhere around an hour. Too many gawd damned humans around here.
- fezenstein0
i should point out it's 15k more
and i would be home 3 days a week
- phatlee0
go for it ....

i commuted about 100 miles each way every day for 6 months. it then dropped to 3 times a week, which was still a lot.
i wouldn't hesitate if it's only twice a week, especially if you don't have to deal with snow.
just get lots of audio books :)
