i've actually been having a hard time keeping food down lately. It stays down...but not without some effort. I'm going to go get some oatmeal for dinner.
then I should also probably GO TO THE DOCTOR.

what kind of work do u do?ftom my doc, ppl in ibanking and traders get the hair loss, digestive system disease, mental break down (random crying, anger), random zone out where u cant refocus your eyes by force, random black outs, trimbling fingers, hyper ventilation, weak in knees, sleeplessness, random screaming and uncontrolable talking to self in public / private.

i'm a web developer.
I got a massive project to do...the type of thing that will likely never be completed...and i've been killing myself trying to get it done by the deadlines they set.
So far i get the hairloss...which might actually be medication related(accutane). and i get colds frequently...random nausea is kind of new.

Don't work more than 9 hours, have a social life with people from other fields. Have fun, mix it up.

I used to be worried about burnout, but I've pushed myself for so long it just feels "normal" now. Not that it's a good thing, of course, but I don't worry about hitting some tipping point anymore.

Also, run, play tennis, yoga. Do things that keep your mind off work and get your blood flowing.

As others have said - exercise does wonders - doesn't have to be intensive or make you knackered. My solution is walking - if I feel things are getting a little tight I look at a map of town, choose a destination - preferably with a park or woodland nearby, pack my camera, take the tunnelbana out there and walk back home with my headphones on, taking photos as I go - I'll happily walk ~10km in one stretch. It cools me out, I (occasionally) get decent pictures, and some exercise.

I let some other idiot do my work while looking super stressed.
No, jokes aside, I try not to work too much. I may sound picky but I also don't except huge salaries, bonuses or a monster career. I am happy with not being always first. I am confident that my work is honored and well-respected within my colleagues and that my work place is safe.
I also bike to work and, this might be the most important thing, I don't have debts or huge responsibilities.

My mom had a burnout some years ago, followed by a deep depression that almost made her kill herself. She's still recovering five years later. Side note, she has to fight more than burnout, but the initial breakdown was her burnout. I decided not to wok my ass of then.
When my granddad died, he didn't say "man, that one day in june 1978, I wish I would have stayed a bit longer in the office"

Don't eat at your desk, eating lunch out can be nice.
Start office traditions like Fridays beers at 5pm.

I put in an extra 160 hours last month at my job.
I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with this, now that the reality is hitting me.- Yeah. That's not healthy. Do you have any control over your workload? You might need to leave.monNom
- An extra 160. jason, take some time off. I agree with nom not healthy. I did 58 hrs in a week last mo... so not a good look. There's NO reason for it.bklyndroobeki
- working those crazy extra hours inspired me to leave the grind by leaving the country, best thing i ever didmoldero
