thinking about buying one for snowboarding.
Do they really protect your head? How many of you bikers, skaters, boarders actually have them?
Do I really need one? It's not like I am an extreme snowboarder.

with street skating i generally don't wear one, but if i'm at a park or TRYING to skate vert i do.

If you ride groomers and park then you should get one. It took me two concusions to learn.

I wear one when I ride my bike. Have been helmeted for 10 years now. I've only needed it maybe 3 or 4 times, but that makes it worth it.

tk...it's a bloody good idea. You don't have to be dropping cliffs or hucking kickers to need to wear one...a vollision on pistes with another boarder or skiier...or smacking into a tree...you'll save yourself some head trauma wearing a helmet.
Think about how fast you ride sometimes...what if you were to hit an ice patch and slip out...fall back and SMACK your head...you'll save yourself a concussion and maybe smething more serious if you wear a helmet.
Last year I had 3 close calls - this year I am getting a hemlet!

snowboarding in parks or trees... yes
and if you're skating vert... of course
unless you're 16 there's absolutely nothing to prove by not protecting your brain.

i got a pro tec helmet, thanks to some friends a few christmases ago
even if you arnt a hardcore boarder doing all the tricks, shit happens, ive had my fair share of tumbles.. ARGHHH

i think i'll buy one at the resort. i think the sales tax in CO is cheaper than NY. But, i am gonna go to the store to have a look tonight.

yeah good point kyle - last weekend at breck it was so fucking cold and windy...-15 with the windchill...thank fuck for face masks..could have done with a nice warm helmet on my head
