"Correspondents say anger grew after a tear gas canister was hurled into a mosque in Clichy on Sunday night. Anger has also been fuelled by the mass arrests.
...
Unrest flared in Clichy after two teenage boys were electrocuted on Thursday at an electricity sub-station.
Local people insist they were fleeing from police and scrambled in to hide. Police say they were not chasing the boys."

dumb fucking kids.
yes. burn the local markets and businesses in your area over your own misunderstanding.
morons. if after 7 days you haven't gotten your point across or made a difference you just have ot say fuck it.

it's been happening like this in paris for years. a whole culture has grown up around it that is becoming almost impossible to break. e.g. La Haine

This isn't about a 'misunderstanding'. The electrocution of the kids being chased by cops was just a catalyst for the despair and ethnic tension that has been growing in the immigrant projects for years and years. And it's been made worse by a local politician promising to rid the suburbs of 'trash' (he means people).

well come on. if you're against the government and local politicians don't burn down the small local businesses that you frequent.
a gymnasium? great. fuck the kids.
a supermarket? have fun walking another few blocks for milk dumb fuck.
a car dealership? way to fuck the little guy and kill his insurance rates burning all his cars.please. go protest on the government steps, not burn your neighborhoods.

I think that's a very simplistic way to look at this you guys. Look at the L.A., Watts, or even the Detroit riots, the violence is just emblematic of long-term repression and injustice by a social system.

I'd be very interested in learning the ethnicities of these kids. I'd put 50 bucks on them being sons of West and North African immigrants. France (political leaders) let them in and then there's nothing for them in terms of employment. Although, I'd still think it be better than the homes their parents had.
Reminds me of the so-called Anti-War 'peaceful protests' we had here over the past two years.

i'm just saying don't burn your own shit.
- Mimio0
Jazx, how does that remind you of the US/Iraqi war protests? Weren't they peaceful?
- JazX0
I just remember the youth throwing garbage bins into small business owners shop windows and destroying public property. Here and elsewhere. Am I alone in remembering this?
hell, that's just plain stupid if you ask me. Taxpayers and insurance buyers pay for it in the long run.
