good god yes, please wear your helmets. I'm a convert. It was probably my friend who had an accident & broke his skull in seven places that made me decide to always protect my head. Seeing him in the hospital & knowing he won't remember seeing me in the hospital was something I don't want to have anyone of my loved ones have to deal with. Or you guys. I love you guys.

Seeing people's post-crash pictures of their helmet cracked completely in half makes one want to run out to the store and buy one immediately.

I looked up my states bicycle laws. One is you have to have a lamp on the front and red reflector or lamp on the back you can see from 500 ft.
That stuff would look gay as hell on a BMX bike wouldn't it?

About 2 years ago I went through a period of "re-bmx" and bought a freestyle mat hoffman bike and rode at my local Vans skatepark. I did this about 4 times and started to realize how an injury could affect my job as a graphic designer i.e. broken wrist, neck, death..etc.. a few weeks later the Vans shut down, and I still have a perfectly new condor bike.
I recently convereted over to a Road bike and just finished a 47 mile ride for breast cancer. Although there were no gnarly jumps or verts, I realized that I still have my memories from bmxing and I can still do some type of bike riding that is not as hazardous to my well being.

indiana has those laws as well for the lights with the added kicker of having to have a bell or horn that is audible up to 50 feet.
we have really bored cops, so i got pulled over for no light one night and he mentioned the bell, too. i just told him i yell at people instead.

the bell/whistle light/reflector thing is a law in NYC too. It's aggravating, especially when you get hit with a ticket for no freakin' bell.

a bell does nothing.. i ride so fast that by the time you heard it, i'd be aroud you... i guess i'd rock one just to avoid the ticket
