Look, at the end of the day - I'm not trying be a c*nt here - I just want a good logo!
Soler - I know you like your concepts but I couldn't live with myself if I went through the process of spending all the cash on new headers, business cards etc. with a logo that I thought just doesn't hit the spot.
And I know you're good at what you do and ideally I should have a budget of $1000 or more but I don't have that kind of cash!
At your request here are the original logo concepts I put out that you disliked:

I understand that you don't want to use a logo that you don't love. I would have made revisions. I get the feeling that no matter what I do at this point I lost the job.

yeah, raw deal, look it's business, you get what you pay for, i think soler's work for that amount of money is fine, i think they could be better but there doesn't seem like much to go off, and that's not really a way to go about creating a great and lasting graphic mark.
still think 3 is the best of soler's options.

what kind of contract specified that you pay if you like the logo only. Solar do yourself a favor and work hourly or use kill fees. And for $200 bucks? That will bring the whole industry down.
That said, I vote for 3. Miles ahead of the orginals, but could be developed further. These are concepts for cods sakes.

Well - for me $200 bucks an hours work is pretty obscene - Soler if you honestly spent more than an hour on that stuff I'm amazed... Inu came up with this:
in ten minutes and I think it is miles better - send it to a bunch of people and they much prefer it to those three designs. If you really think no. 3 is worth $200 then we'll work something out by email but I have to say I feel hard done by...

I like Inus design - maybe get rid of the semi-serif on the "p" and the "1" but otherwise very nice!

I like the #3, but all I can say is nice. Ok, it has potential, i can have infinite meanings, could be strong and so on, but, the point is you didn't staisfy your client, Identity is a more complex work. I totally agree with forcetwelwe, it has to be a private process, then, when you think the work is done you can submit a range of proposals with the brief. In the other side
the client, once he has a range of things he likes, can submit to the board to be helped to choose which one.
And btw Soler must be paid for his work, in the deal there was no explicit reference to the client satisfaction, but just to the NT agreement.What a sad thing,

in the real world you would select a designer based on his work and you pay them hourly until you were satisfied or decided to end the relationship at which point you would pay them for their time and say thanks and goodbye. Working on spec is kinda ridiculous. This sounds more like a favor than anything, esp. for $200. sorry, just my opinion.

is it just a outlined typeface-mask from a bunch of dots? can't be, all of the dots are solid.

the 3rd one could work with a bolder font and stronger color treatment. maybe orange?
it's not going to read when scaled down but it could be a cool mark all on it's own in that square.
just send back revisions and get more work for free man.

no as I said i like no. 3 the best of the 3 but just much prefer Inus' design. I will work something out with Soler.
