it felt like a typical "alien" film. i was surprised they could not sense your presence ... but overall, the best CG i've seen so far this year.

I just got back from seeing it again...I was forced too

Schindler's List is a Movie.
War of the worlds is a movie.

totally agree with you quamb, the more I was thinking about the movie, I came to a conclusion that Spielberg did the right thing to show how this attack looked through eyes of this family and how they react and live through the whole nightmare. What gave it an even more dramatic feel is that it shows how father has to kill someone in order for them to survive.
Great movie. 85 out of 100 simply because there are really a few things that I noticed as I was watching the movie were totally unlogical. Everything else, STUNNING. I just felt it was more of a documentary then hollywood blockbuster the way it was shot. Very nice and realistic effects.

The machines and their shields where powered by human blood, but when the aliens started to get sick they couldnt catch or pull up any of the humans from their cages to "fuel" the machines.. right?

I think he's asking why the shields went down, not why the organisms were dying...

(Jun 29 05, 18:23)Yeah that miffed me too but i suppose it had something to do with them loosing their energy.
To be honest I'm glad this movie didnt spell everything out for me, left some of the detail to my imagination. Cause we do have imaginations, don't we,

Just back from seeing it myself and have to say it's the best and most gripping movie I've seen since the LOTR trilogy ended.
It was given a 12A rating in the UK (under 12s can see it with a parent) which I think might be a bit low - some of the scenes would freak the shit out of kids, especially when the tripods start frying people at the start of the movie.
It's definitely one I'll be going to see again.

Things that confused me... the mysterious working video camera was one... but then they woke up at the other house in the morning and there was total carnage but their car was totally untouched, sitting nicely on the drive!

I saw thi s movie last night at cine capri and I have to say, "it sucked."
The action scenes were worthless and the acting was hideous.
Not recommanding it for any additional viewings. I should have watched the "Honey Mooners."

I was a little dissapointed with this movie. Thought they could have done alot better with a decent script and slightly better story. But the effects were good.
Is it just me or did anyone else think that the scene when Tom and Dakota were in that alien machine and that tenticle thing was coming down to grab people that it looked heaps like they were getting sucked into a massive asshole??

Yeah the unwrecked car in a plane wreck site... I forgot to mention that.
Also, did you notice he always has a clear passage to travel no matter how bad the congestion (cars that stalled were ALL thoughtful enough to steer it off the road), and no matter how bad the plane wreck was?

All I have to say is that it is a great movie, worth seeing.
It has its flaws like any other movie (if you are looking for them).
but other than that I will see it again.
5 stars

I was actually a bit dissapointed at this movie..
where was the story? it almost looked like an action trailer..
yes, good special effects, acting was ok, suspense really good..
story= 0
just action shots the whole movie...

I don't think the video camera was a mistake..
there was also, photo cameras, and celphones working on that same scene, then later the van filled with broadcasting equipment had like 3 monitors, computer and a sattelite working fine, no probblem, and also the engine...
maybe it was something temporal? I just rfuse to thing that AAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL that was a mistake..
to easy

read my earlier post if you care, meeklo.

Thats wasnt the same place. They had power in the house too there you see.
But funny how they didnt hear the actual plane crash? that would have made one hell of a noise! more then the little one that we did hear.

Didn't really work for me, liked the humans in cages bit when they were harvested at the drivers leisure but apart form that the film I thought was weak in many places.

seriously refusing to see a movie with scientology cruise demanding to have a scientology promo tent at the set.

Chossy's lying he loved it. I on the other hand thought it was the bi&&est p*le of SHITE ever. My ass and nuts are currently putting together a screenplay which will shit and spunk all over it. eeeugh, sorry.
