Great movie. Loads of freaky weird bits. Excellent effects. Crazy camera work that I couldnt figure out how they did it.
Didnt really stick the the original book but more followed a families ordeal through it all.
A movie hasnt gripped me like that in a long time. Pure Speilburg.
The only critic is that young girl. She annoyed the shit outa me with her screams. Reminded me why i never want to have kids.
But all in all i'd give it 5 stars

I plan on seeing it, but I've tempered my expectations down. For a good time check out the 1971 broadbast of WKBW's radio version. It's very, very good. Unfortunately you need RealPlayer but if people are interested I can toss an MP3 online.

do it up welded
btw is that the radio version where some people thought it was real event...

Just realized I didn't include the RealAudio link. I'll get the MP3 up in a bit:

Its nothing like the radio version. It has the red weed and all that but the radio version is about the overall battle. This is just about a families ordeal.
I love the original soundtrack with david essex. I loved the OOOOOOOOOO LLLLLLAAAAAAAA's in it. I was hoping to hear them in the movie, but no.
Still a great flick but dont look for hollywood to do the book any justice ;)

"You know, for kids."
Spielberg in full-on commercial mode.

Wow, you liked it? The graphics, of course, were amazing & virtually flawless - but I wish they would've put more time into the actual story. The whole movie was 95% attacks, and then a very abrupt conclusion. I wish they would've explored & played more with the whole 'immunities' thing. Not to mention the crappy fact that everyone lived & the final hugs were so cheeseball.
Entertaining in a lot of ways, yes, and the acting was pretty awesome, too. (That little girl is going places.) But, once again, they should've worked more on the plot.

It's speilberg. The only plot is mushy love. I was never expecting one. And yeah it ended abruptly

*potential spoiler*
one mistake i found was when at the start with the EMP thing, how all electricals were stuffed, how did they guy manage to get his video camera working. also, it didnt really explain why the things were dieing and shields were off, unless i missed that.
- MrDinky0
GEE THX !!
ITS LIKE MATRIX ALL OVER AGAIN !!!
NOW HOW AM I GONNA WATCH THE MOVEI !!

****another spoiler****
They died because they had no immune system against our organisms.
And yeah, that video camera was a bit of a joke
- brooke0
I think he's asking why the shields went down, not why the organisms were dying...

That's my Friday night pick. WOTW will be in the theatre for a long time, Land of the Dead, who knows. Plus, I like Romero better than Speilberg.

i was like "is that the end?" :S

Seriously, I think we're being overloaded with special effects. Not enough time spent on the actual story. I liked Batman Begins. The story was greater than the special effects.

sorry, just can't get past the fact that it stars tom cruise...the douche better hope a group of postpartum mothers don't meet up with him in a dark alley...
