*potential spoiler*
one mistake i found was when at the start with the EMP thing, how all electricals were stuffed, how did they guy manage to get his video camera working. also, it didnt really explain why the things were dieing and shields were off, unless i missed that.

(Jun 29 05, 18:13)*more spoiler questions*
The pods that penetrated the grounds were huge (as can be seen from the TV Van footage) but the entry hole was no bigger than a person?
Why were the birds on the final tripod machine when it's making such a racket? There's not even blood reeds for them to eat and they are landing on the potentially dangerous machine.
On that note, why would the aliens deactivate their shields? Obviously the tripods are machines capable of generating shields regardless of the health of their drivers.
What kind of disease can be so crippling that it kills the alien in an almost instant (he dried up right before our eyes).
If the aliens like to suck our blood, why do they wipe out with the lasers instead of capturing everybody?
How can Ray (Tom Cruise) possibly use his mouth to unpin two grenades when he was sucked up an airtight pod? Does anyone realize how hard it is to pull a grenade's safety pin by hand, let alone by mouth? How the hell did he manage 2?
And that pod wasn't strong enough to withstand the pulling weight of 15 odd people when it's the size of a room?
Why were the capture pods open air anyway... so that kids can fall out/enjoy the scenery?
Robbie (the son) went to the war front and bloody survived, and reached Boston sooner than Ray and daughter... they could have just followed him in the first place.
A tendril of heavy metal can be cut by a humble handaxe?!?! And the tendril lingers there to be almost completely cut before it withdraws itself from the hole (a bloody instinctive action, I'd say).
The guy who rescued Ray was holding a shovel (and obviously stronger, as seen in the shotgun struggle) when Ray tried to kill him. And Ray came out of the fight with nothing but a tiny scratch on his brow?!?!
Why does the blood they spray end up in red reeds? When Ray and the guy who rescued him got sprayed by the blood, he the blood is in tiny specks and blots, not reeds.

great ride!!! As far as effects I think Speilberg has done it again. I'm wondering if any of that CGI stuff was used at ILM. I noticed that Mr. Speilberg bit(or maybe borrowed since there freinds now) the scene where Cruise blows one of the *cough *cough - A little bit of "Empire Strikes Back", yes? Hopefully this movie gets Hollywood out of it's slump.

SPONGEBOB... WTF?
Your asking how and why and where and what... blah blah blah...
... IT'S A MOVIE first of all...
... EMP doesn't kill batteries apparently (recall tommy grabbin' a load of batteries... and also telling the dude to change the celunode(battery) in the truck)...
AND.... what would you rather have in a movie? Boring bullshit w/Mr. Wizard explaining to you all through-out the movie why the creatures are dying?.... no... you want a RUSH... you want to be oohed and aahed as you HAVE COME TO EXPECT from Spielberg.
DON'T see this movie if you're not up for a good time - if you're going to pick it apart and cry 'foul' over it not being exactly as the book.. fuck off.

What happened to "Enter response"?
hahaha you need to chill man. I enjoyed the show. It's just that logic kicks in after the show and I come up with a bunch of questions most people would have missed. I like shows that remain smart after it's all over.
EMP doesn't kill the batteries, but it fries all the electronics, of which a videocam is definitely one.
And Spielberg or no Spielberg I don't normally watch shows based on directors, but by the comments that surround the show and its premise.
Sorry if I made your movie ticket/experience seem a little less worth the dough...
But what do you care about my movie habits right?
- spongebob0
and oh, I've never read the book.

great graphics, enjoyed it, loved it.
i agree with ponyboy.movie did have it's flaws on the alien shield thingy, but movie was totally worth it.

spongebob... I'm off my paxil and it's late and I just got out of the movie about 35 mins ago w/my pals adnan (cosmo) and lifeinbinary (safmeister)...
... can we all agree that the film was incredibly intense? :)
I get a bit upset when people tear into a film like this -- it's not meant to do anything but take you for ride... and it does it well. :)
I didn't read the book either... but I've heard the original radio broadcast many times... always a trip to listen to.

it's cool ponyman. :) i don't regret seeing the movie.

Shit - could you imagine how unannoying Tom Cruise might actually be if he hopped on a few downers? I might even chill with the dude then.
