I like Fairey's stuff so I don't want you to think I am bashing him, just some artist create things from other art, or find inspiration from other art it's been that way for a long time but to say it's okay cause it's Obey and not okay cause it's Nike is bull, and Fairey has ripped a lot of s#!t during his career.

As ART this can be valid expression and I think it's fair game, but as a commercial venture, I just reckon it's wrong and unfair those guys.

I could say it's all about being true to the punk spirit or about plagarism or intellectual property, but this is what bugs me about it...
One call. That's all it would have taken. It's something us big boys call "prior permission". If Dischord/Minor Threat had been cool with ith usage, I would have been cool with it.
Maybe I'm just sensitive because I've been ripped off a few times. Went to court three times over it and I'm up 2-1 (one of them was a $75k settlement out of court, most of it going to the lawyers).
I'm also part of the copy/paste generation. BUT: If I use something that's not public domain, I get permission from the originator.

They prob would have called but they knew dischord would say "nah beat it" which creates no publicity i.e. sell no more sneakers.
